April Affairs
If April were a woman, I would have made-out with her seriously in some corner of a bar or in a private cove in some secluded island but that would be too taboo, especially for me. Hmm, wait a minute, come to think of it, I did make out with April. But not what you are thinking.
At the height of the season, enjoying the most out of it required being out. Whether basking under the sun, frolicking at the beach or just simply enjoying a summer evening al fresco, the past 30 days were a surprising mix of smoldering and heat-defying events!
I may have missed the concert event of the year in favor of my grandpa’s 95th, but from what I’ve heard, Martin Nievera made his twenty-five-years-in-the-biz celebration into a grand musical shindig at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel’s Grand Ballroom. My sources say (one of which is our Entertainment editor Nathalie Tomada), that the concert king was in high spirits and in adrenalin-performance mode that evening so the musical extravaganza stretched until
After a very successful second run in the city, Y101 Roommates brought Man Auction’s sophomore installment to the Capital raising a substantial amount to benefit a number of charities. Gorgeous hunks Brad Turvey and Marc Nelson were among a bevy of smoldering men auctioned by roomies June Rabin and Jude Bacalso. Great job, guys!
Meanwhile, Governor Gwen Garcia culminated her Suroy-suroy Sugbo’s northern leg in Liloan’s historic Parola. Guests, local and international tourists, and friends were treated to an evening of old-fashioned entertainment showcasing the country’s culture and heritage interpreted in dance and songs. Highlighted were the municipal employees grooving to the live rendition of Sugbo’s theme “Mabuhi” by the Liloan San Fernando Rey Chorus.

Chic and Fab (formerly Hai Phong restaurant) at the Crossroads in Banilad introduces a new concept in dining and shopping all together. Serving exquisite international cuisine, it combines an Asian bistro with a one-stop shop for the latest in fashion—all from the shopping capital of the region,
Of course, I never missed out on the fun-under-the-sun activities. There was a beach trip, a moonlit dinner and a jaunt to an island where the surfs are always high, Siargao (which will be in another story). But for now, to end the summer season right, fill your May with lots of merriment with everyone!
