Weddings in Wonderland

- Bobit S. Avila -

“Something borrowed, something blue, we’ve got something in store for you!” Announced the enticing poster of the highly anticipated bridal fair of the season, Weddings at the Marco Polo Plaza. Inside sources told me that indeed, great surprises await blushing-brides-to-be for Marco Polo Plaza’s second bridal installation that came to be after last year’s highly successful launch.

It’s a double treat with the participation of Fashion Council of Cebu to unveil the exquisite bridal collections from the city’s most prominent designers. Albert Arriba, Arcy Gayatin, Cary Santiago, Ditas Rodriguez, Felix Yu, Jun Escario, Minnie Yuvienco, Oj Hofer and Philip Rodriguez in a grand fashion show with model brides and grooms from M.A.C.>Models Association of Cebu to give life to their wedding creations. And following the footsteps of Alice after she fell down the rabbit hole, the modern bride will be given options as the above-mentioned designers interpret a garden wedding in sync with the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel lobby’s transformation into a wedding wonderland through the artistry of Jaime Chua and Ms. Teresin Mendezona. “I imagine a bride bedecked with flowers, but all in white, so that she’ll stand out in the garden, like a nymph, a pure vision!” quipped Cary Santiago.

Under the helm of master director/choreographer Junjet Primor, the Weddings at the Marco Polo Plaza will be on April 26 and 27. Close to 20 model brides and grooms will walk the “garden” and remind us all, once again, that love is a many splendored thing.

Bravissimo!
