Ikebana Cebu Marks 28th year
Ikebana International Cebu Chapter 145 celebrated its 38th anniversary with an exhibit at the Northwing, SM City Cebu last April 4.
With the aim of developing floral art awareness for the general public, Ikebana Society of Cebu held a public demo during the 2nd day of the exhibit. Doods Santos, chair of the lecture demo, did the demonstration together with Zelia Borromeo and Corito Abalos.
Guest of honor during the opening of the exhibit was the well-known international concert pianist Ingrid Sala Santamaria who looked stunning in an emerald green Filipiniana attire. Assisting Ingrid in cutting the ribbon was the club’s president, Carmen A. Go, in a lovely ecru Maria Clara-inspired gown. Practically all officers and members of Ikebana were in their lovely Filipiniana outfits.
Officers for the remaining term in 2008 are: President – Carmen A. Go; 1st Vice President – Sue Gray; 2nd Vice President – Betty Eustaquio; Marlene Inocencio – Recording Secretary; Rebecca Peralta – Treasurer; Norma Castro – Asst. Treasurer; Norma Sanchez – Corresponding Secretary and Asian Liaison Officer; Erlinda To – PRO/Historian; Mariter Klepp – Adviser; Board members are – Corito Abalos, Zelia Borromeo, Carmen Garcia, Margarita Sy and Helen Yap.
As we viewed the various exhibits consisting of freestyle and exclusive, we found the beautiful flower arrangements of the officers and members of Ikebana Cebu worth looking. The ladies, sincerely exerted efforts to show to all and sundry that they love their work of art. Congratulations, ladies and may you live up to your goal of enlightening the hearts of people by presenting the beautiful flower arrangements in Ikebana! Cheers!
