Come’n Over to Biliran!

- Kathleen Danecca A. Cale -

Between the northern part of Leyte and eastern Samar lies an island province worthy to be called a paradise. This island serves as a haven for its natives. Yet, only little has been known about it due to distance and lack of information. Travelers are yet to discover this place.

Biliran Island is a newly created province after it has separated from Leyte’s jurisdiction.

Eight towns comprise the province namely: Biliran, Naval, Almeria, Kawayan, Maripipi, Culaba, Caibiran and Cabucgayan with Naval as the capital.

A lot of tourist spots ideal for fishing, camping, trekking, scuba diving, snorkeling, and etc. would surely be an attraction to adventurers especially for this summer. Some of these are the Sambawan Island, Tinago Waterfalls, Higatangan Island, Dalutan Island, Tingkasan Bat Cave, Kinaraha Cascades, Iyusan Rice Teracces, and a lot more.

Aside from these tourist spots, the Biliranons themselves are the pride of the place. Warm, hospitable and friendly — indeed they are very accommodating to tourists, be they foreigners or fellow Filipinos.

As Biliran opens its doors to all who dare to enter the paradise, it will now rise up from the embers of the unknown and boast to the whole world its natural gifts of beauty.
