The Essence of Bergamo, Italy

It happens all throughout the journey when the fun of travel is the travelling itself. It is what I would like to call a real life experience, moments when you know that you are experiencing something special – when you find yourself enjoying, being treated to home-cooked meals, landing in a different scenery and thinking of how everything fits together perfectly. A home away from home brought a unique perspective on both traditions and modern life – the road to another Italian beauty, Bergamo.

Based on its very own distinctive take on culture, there was never a better time to take an Easter trip with family and friends than to a gorgeous looking town that takes great pride in itself. An ideal place for a weekend taste of Italy when you can see everything you need to see and still have time for long lunches and dinners.

The best way to explore the town of Bergamo is by foot. What are especially  appealing are the town’s historic sights such as the old church and buildings along a street called Via Papa Giovanni XXIII, where you can also have an outstanding view of the residential area. Other important places in the town are the Piazza Vecchia, Piazza del Duomo, Accademia Carrara  – to name a few. Bergamo is divided into two, the upper town (Citta Alta di Bergamo), where you will find yourself walking on cobbled streets and the lower town (Bergamo Citta Bassa), where all the town’s action takes place. Our precious time was spent wisely.

In an old town with so much delight, I only wished for longer hours in a day! But more importantly was to take a lot of photographs to share my wonderful experience with others. Bergamo is a superb place whichever way you want to explore it, so compact and easy to get around especially with the warmth of the Italian people. It was overall a wonderful captivating adventure!
