Have Clothes, Will Travel

Everyone in fashion has a good style anecdote. After his show last weekend (last season marked his partner, Mark So, and his foray to the fashion deminonde), at the backstage Harley Ruedas quipped, “it’s a good thing models have standard size. We can juxtapose the collections and sequence guide and it still fits to a T.” Thus ingénues Harvey Cenit and Rei Escario opened up the show and ended with a Mark So/Harley Ruedas bridal collection. “Their show was always a must-see,” quipped a well-heeled-but-refused-to-be-named fashionista.

This fashion writer thinks it still is. So were with other style arbiters and photographers who sat together in the front row. Les Couturiers summer offerings had snippets of caricature-ish paintings, patchwork, beading, even tulle and silk (for the brides-to-be) as what the finale unveiled.

And some were made of organic and fair trade materials. The fashion house of Harley Ruedas has always been at the forefront of eco-fashion. He has his own quirky but distinctive story like he used recycled denim for a long time. This time though, the collections evoked travel as the definite word. Ogle if you must as the spread here are de rigueur for this season.
