A whiff of summer breeze deliciously assaulted our consciousness. When energetic and quirky designer Kate Torralba breezed into town (she is a pure blooded Cebuano but is continuously making waves in the capital) to unveil a colorific collection that has gypsy predilections.
It cannot be denied that the biggest trend in fashion and design for 2008 is color. And for Kate Torralba, who is passionate about fashion and design, this means intense, almost fluorescent shades of fuchsia and citrus, and more earthy hues like aquamarine, magenta and mustard. This color palette is a welcome treat from last year’s ubiquitous and somber black and gray pallor since color almost always evokes a festive accent.
The Kate Torralba Summer 2008 collection was in sync with Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa’s First Full Moon Party at the Cowrie Cove. Partyphiles and the fashion cognoscenti basked in this year’s first full moon grooving to the music of Dj Mike Tolentino. Springy models from M.A.C.>Models Association of Cebu strut their stuff clad in color from the long dresses to the maillots and sheaths down to the strings of accessories of bling blings and bags, all from Kate Torralba.
Bravissimo!
