Serenity, wellness and relaxation within the confines of a holistic approach to fitness is what Meddah Spa is all about. Located at Crossroads Mall, Banilad, Meddah Spa, for the last four years, has become a stopover for busy individuals who want to avail for themselves the much-sought after “love” and “care” services that the place has to offer. After all, “loving care” is what Meddah, which is “Mehta” in Hindu, stands for.
“Meddah will stop at nothing in ensuring that our growing clientele always get the TLC (tender loving care) they seek with every Meddah visit they make,” said its chief executive officer, Merly Schurch.
Meddah Spa was launched in July 2003, which has since created its own niche in the high-end spa and wellness industry. Among those clienteles from the A-B class who have kept on coming to enjoy the Meddah’s touch are business executives, foreigners, local politicians, and even celebrities, revealed Schurch. It presently has 20 beds: 14 in the common room, while there are six private rooms.
The spa services include unique body treatments, facial therapies, hand and foot therapies and massages, acupressure, facial treatment, exotic Balinese scrub, and lomi-lomi massage. The most favored among their regulars, according to the Cebuano businesswoman, is the volcanic stone massage, which uses real volcanic stones. Here, a client is treated to a full 90-minute massage experience that guarantees to satisfy him all the way, “because a client works hard, he only wants the best ways to unwind,” Schurch reasoned.
Meddah Spa also offers pre-natal and post-natal treatments, but the client has to have her doctor’s approval first to avail for herself any of these treatments. The pre-natal massage service is actually the first time to be offered in Cebu market. And speaking of first times, Meddah also takes wellness and relaxation a notch higher by presenting its US-made detoxifying machine. This “ion detox plus,” introduced by Meddah in October last year, gives the client both relaxation and detoxification he needs at the same time. The process, Merly related, is that the moment that the client steps in a foot massage-like machine, he will not only feel the massaging motion that the machine gives to his feet, he is also assured that after the session the toxins in his body are removed. The color of the water in the machine changes because of the toxins absorbed from the body. For this detoxifying service, the client is required to finish it up to 10 sessions (a package for P6,000 for it; P750 for the 30-minute session) for a satisfactory effect. Merly said that they offered this service because modern-day people have become reckless with their health—consuming liquor constantly, eating toxic food three times a day, et cetera. Hence, Meddah provides this new way to detoxify, where they can also enjoy the way to getting fit at the same time.
Whatever they do there in Meddah, Merly said, it’s always for the satisfaction of their clients, from the serene atmosphere that greets them while still in the lobby, to the comfortable rooms that already spell good service. And most importantly, the well-trained masseurs, whose massaging technique is similar to dancing. Like in dancing, in giving a massage to a client, “you have to respect the body, enjoy the flow, that way, you let your client feel your loving care. We always give it, that’s why we continue to exist,” Merly concluded.
