A Marian Art Exhibit was in celebration of Mama Mary’s birthday dubbed as “Maghimaya Ka Maria.” A solemn enthronement of Mama Mary was held at the lobby of the Cathedral Museum of Cebu.
Doing the ceremony, the Crowning of Our Lady of Guadalupe – patroness of Cebu, was done by His Eminence Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, Mrs. Zenaida Larrazabal and Mr. Michel Lhuillier. The art exhibit artists were Fr. Dominador Besares, OSA, Pronnie dela Cerna, Tito Cuevas, Bernardo Hermosa, Boy Bart Kiamko, Celso Pepito, Fr. Madrid Pepito, Antonio Vidal, and Jose Kimsoy Yap.
The mother and child themed painting entitled “Maghimaya Ka Maria” is in honor of the Virgin Mary on her birthday last September 8. The exhibition defied the conventional picture of the mother and child, however it showcased the individual interpretation of the artists and their rendition of the loving relationship of the Virgin Mary and the Child Jesus that can be seen in the different phases of life like ordinary people, in the workplace at certain events and some situations which gave integrity to the mundane occurrences that were given spiritual meanings.
