Color Cornucopia
Leave it to Philip Rodriguez when style dilemma is what you’re facing and you won’t definitely feel drab nor dated. At the cavernous Pacific Grand Ballroom of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, his Samsung Style Watch at the Waterfront – Metrowear collection unveiled an abundance of color, singular style and coherence in mood. A proponent of the rich Filipino heritage, his predilection to our colorful culture and tradition send mannequins on the runway clad in luxury.
First face was a dead-ringer for Kate Moss, the indomitable Ria Bolivar, whose lithe frame was perfect for the designer in focus’ black strapless lace appliquéd, column dress with multi-tiered palikpik patterns on the hem giving it vavavoom volume! What followed were colorific hues in heliotrope, eggyolk yellow, vivid green, magenta, purple, melon, sunset orange interspersed with black suited male mannequins. Detailing includes his signature palikpik on the hem and on the mutton sleeves, floralia cut-outs that adorned the neckline, bodice and back and luxurious fabrics like the softest chiffon, Mindanao silk, shantung and wool with a bit of sheen for his mensline.
Bravissimo, Philip Rodriguez!
