Rustan’s Fresh opens at Ayala

- Divine S. Ngujo -

Buying fresh food is made even more exciting and pleasant experience with the opening of Rustan’s Fresh Supermarket at the Basement Level of the Expansion Building of Ayala Center Cebu.

Seating on a 2,000 square-meter floor area, it is the second Rustan’s Fresh Supermarket in Cebu, and is much bigger than its outlet in Banawa. Store hours is from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Much like the other the Rustan’s Fresh outlets, the Ayala Cebu store carries an extensive selection of fresh, high quality goods and produce. Premium specialty foods from the best cultures are also available such as French, Mediterranean, Japanese, Thai, Mexican, Italian, Spanish, American, Indian and many others. The range includes packaged foods, imported dairy and deli to health and organic products.

As a testament to its pioneering concept of grocery shopping focusing on fresh items, the new Rustan’s Fresh has a wide choices of meats, including imported 100 percent all natural Australian chilled beef, and a new line of Swiss deli items like sausages and cold cuts.

At the fresh seafood section, there is a complete assortment of seafood products like the Blue Marlin, Norwegian Salmon, lobsters, groupers, live sea bass and crabs. The standard fare of Tilapia and Bangus, at prices that are very hard to match, will also be available in the coming days.

For the working woman, the fresh veggies section has prepacked, ready-to-cook vegetables like chopsuey mix that can be bought at surprisingly low prices.

Gracing the grand party for the new Rustan’s Fresh Supermarket which was spiced up by live performances from Asia’s Pop Idol Christian Bautista and Ultimate Champion Rachelle Ann Go, were Mayor Tomas Osmeña and wife Margot, Annie Aboitiz, Teresin Mendezona, A.L. Designs president Agnes Huettel, Landco Pacific’s Shella Sarmiento, Susie Oliver of TIMEX, Corp. Planning Management Services VP Nercy Jane Torilla, Christine Pelaez, Janine Taylor, Mary Ann Arculli, Lelet Heredia, Pia Mantecon, Mehitabel CEO Tamsin Booth, Milgaros Borromeo, Karl Cotaoco and Joyce Reyes of Unilever, Energizer managing director Esteban Vorbeck, Gogo Sievert of San Miguel, Ralph Joseph of Philippine Wine Merchants, Inc., and Monde Nissin’s Sammy Shi.

Founded in 1970 in Manila, the Rustan’s Supermarket is a pioneer in modern grocery  retailing having introduced many innovations that are still being imitated to this day. From introducing groundbreaking promotions, such as the buy 1 take 1 offer; to FSP, the first modern retail loyalty program in the industry; to Grocering, the first ever grocery delivery in the country, Rustan’s Supermarket defined, to a large extent, the very concept of modern food retailing in the Philippines.
