The Philippine Folk Dance Society-Cebu Chapter conducted its 5th Echo Folk Dance Workshop last July 7-8 at the Anselmo Bustos Sports Complex (formerly USC Gymnasium), University of San Carlos.
This workshop aimed to recall the best folk dances researched by the National Artist for Dance, The Mother of Philippine Folk Dances, Francisca Reyes Aquino.
The workshop also aimed to make the present generation of dance teachers and dancers be aware and inculcate an appreciation of the beauty of the country’s traditions.
This year’s theme was “Imong Sayaw, Akong Sayaw: Isayaw Natong Tanan.”
In the offing were classic folk dances and newly researched dances featured in the most recent National Folk Dance Workshop.
Dances included Pastores Kawit, Estudiantina, Paseo de Bicol, Sakuting, Timawa and Kapiil sa Munsala.
This year’s workshop was one of the successful ventures of PFDS-CC.
