Heritage Caravan is a Province-wide movement under the visionary leadership of the first Cebu lady Governor Gwen Garcia which identifies, conserves, and manages the natural and tangible cultural heritage of the province.
Composed of a multi-sectoral organization bound by a common concern for Cebu’s tangible heritage, it aims to serve the Cebuanos by advocating and providing technical support to conservation and management initiatives at the local level.
Bringing this initiative to the grassroots, clusters are formed spanning from Samboan to Badian as cluster one to as far as Borbon to Compostela as cluster 8.
Seeking to develop awareness to this cluster, a seminar-workshop was held at the AVR of Cebu State College of Science and Technology- Carmen Campus last June 20-21 where tourism council delegates and LGU representatives coming from Borbon, Sogod, Carmon, Carmen, Danao and Compostela participated in the program.
Resouce speakers Melva Java, Carmencita Solis, Rosebelle Daculan, Ruel Rigor and Prof. Jojo Bersales enlightened participants with subjects zeroing in on heritage structures and sites, evaluation, relics and movable heritage, and cultural map action planning.
It won’t be long when our visits to these towns and cities of Cebu province could be noteworthy such that it would rival any world-class tourist destination to date and where Cebuano culture and tradition would play vital roles in establishing our very own identity as a people.
This is the beauty of this project.
