FREESTYLE - FREESTYLE By Dexter Alazas -
It's time again for the search of the most beautiful and intelligent Filipino teenager, Miss Teen Philippines International 2007. Every year, the search gives opportunities to fine young ladies who are a step above the rest to continue to blossom into the limelight, with their dream of becoming sought-after teenage stars.

Nicole Schmitz, last year's 1ST runner up in the national competition, was also hailed most beautiful as Miss Mandaue 2006. Barely a month ago, she became one of the finalists for the Bb. Pilipinas competion. At the same time, Bea Villegas, Cebu' s television princess, placed 4th runner up in Manila, and is currently enjoying her local showbiz career with ABS-CBN . Past Ms. Teen winner Nikki Taylor who placed 2nd runner up back in 2004 is one of Cebu's top models and recently represented this city in the Ford Supermodel of the World-Philippines competition .

Other successful finalists are Isa Egiua- model/host, Allison Angbetic- model, Beauty Gonzales, print model, and models under ADMODELS MANAGEMENT- Philippines, one of Cebu's leading model groups.

Now on its fourth year, Miss Teen Philippines International is anchored on education and personality development, and aims to assemble smart and vibrant young girls to compete in the search for a national role model for the youth.

The national-international competition is a joint project of YES! Inc. (Youth Empowerment for Self-Reliance, Inc.) and LITESPEED EVENTS, Inc. to be launched at the regional level from at least ten selected sites across the country, and at the international level from various Filipino communities overseas. This year's regional coordinator is Ms. Aileen Brunio, representing Q4 Ads- Marketing and promotions arm, while StyleFirm, a fashion consultancy group, will take care of its creative concept and production styling.

Marc Ramos, director and operations vice president for INMI, said that Miss Teen Philippines contest puts emphasis on communication skills and advocacy with a face "...that radiates youthful energy." As a matter of fact, the minimum height requirement is only 5'2". This is also the first time that they have tied up with the DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources). The Ms. Teen finalists can now be licensed to report anyone wrongfully doing unlawful things to nature and the environment. Thus the theme "Au Natural… Love Nature." The candidates will be enjoying environmental-oriented pre-pageant activities such as nature tripping, fitness and health activities, and whatnot. This year, the local organizers are focusing on the teens' natural talent. Believing in their artistic potentials, a separate special event on talents will take place come April 15, Sunday, at The Parklane Intl. Hotel. During this competition, the talent to be performed by every participating girl will be "all natural," giving meaning to the true love of natural beauty, inside out.

As role model to the youth, the winner will become the national spokesperson for YES! Inc. for its program called "Youth Leading the Youth", and also for the DENR, as Mother Nature's Ambassadress. She will also bring home a whopping P100,000.00 in cash, participation in international youth-related conventions, a four-year college scholarship, enrollment in a personality development program, and gift packs from sponsors.

Ms. Teen Philippines - regional finals will culminate on April 21 at the SM City Cebu Trade Hall at 6:00 p.m. Who will be hailed Teen Princess of the year?
