It can feed your hunger.
"When people hear the word surfing, they would think right away of Siargao, but we would like to let them know that it also exists in Cebu," said Boeing Paras, a member of the Adrenaline surfing team.
Cebu is one of the existing surfing venues in the Philippines. Though the waves in Cebu are not as good as in Siargao, surfers can still do their stuff. Not only does it offer surfing but also skim boarding, which it is more popularly known.
"The waves suited for surfing is normally caused by wind swells and low pressure. It is also seasonal," added Boeing.
For some places in Cebu, like Argao, Punta Engaño and Sta. Rosa Island, these waves are produced during the months of June to August.
Chassy Mae Cortes, also a member of the Adrenaline team, said, "We want people to know about this and to adopt this kind of lifestyle because it is fun and challenging."
This is why Adrenaline Boarding Co. and Aframe Clothing Co. present a week-long surfing and skim boarding workshop for free. This will be on April 3 - 7 at Palmbay, Sta. Fe, Bantayan, Cebu. The workshop is open to everyone.
The materials needed for the workshop like the surf and skim boards are provided. An acoustic night will also take place where everyone is welcome to play any acoustic music.
In the workshop, one would expect to learn the basics of surfing and skim boarding. "People will learn that paddling is the difficult part of surfing. The person must find his weight and balance. Riding the board then becomes easy," confessed Boeing.
Boeing and Chassy agreed that Bantayan, the venue of the workshop, is not good for surfing. It is best for skim boarding. However, it can feed the hunger for those who like to learn and try surfing and skim boarding.
