Postscript to the Summit
February 15, 2007 | 12:00am
It's still deafening and people are still continuously talking about the most successful event Cebu ever had…the ASEAN SUMMIT! As Cebuanos, we cannot fathom how deeply proud and happy we are. Gov. Gwen Garcia is thankful to God for giving her so much strength and for the support of the countless Cebuanos who made possible the success of the summit.
The Cebu International Convention Center, standing on its majestic simplicity and elegance, on opening day welcomed Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and her retinue of officials to unveil the marker where, etched on bold letters one can see, thus: "Cebu International Convention Center - Dedicated to the People of Cebu who Rose to a Difficult Challenge…" Indeed, the beauty and grandeur of the CICC is something we can proudly boast of, and we would like to thank the President for giving us Cebuanos the trust to hold the summit in this island with people warm in hospitality and splendid in its austerity.
Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino will host a Chinese New Year Celebration "Fire in the Sky" on Saturday, February 17 at 6:30 p.m. As in the past years, there will be a Chinese Cultural presentation followed by fireworks display and Chinese New Year buffet dinner at UNO.
On February 18, Marriott Cebu City Hotel will celebrate the Chinese New Year with a Lion-Eye Dotting ceremony at the hotel's main entrance. A special Chinee Lunch Buffet follows at the Garden Café prepared by the new Executive Chef Witold "Witek" Szczechura from JW Marriott Hotel Chongqing, China.
Those invited, and those interested to watch the eye-dotting ceremony, be at the hotel lobby before 9:58 a.m.
