Good idea though, for the hotel's occupancy that week wasn't so high due to the summit's postponement. It was such an honor, for we were the first ones to experience the tastefully done suites which were intended for the foreign dignitaries even before they did. I just couldn't believe it when a friend from the hotel informed me that I was sleeping and staying in the suite originally reserved for a very prominent international figure which we can only see in CNN, BBC, and the like! My goodness! I was really impressed! I've stayed in those suites a couple of times before it was renovated, and my gosh, what a makeover! I doff my hat to Anton G. Mendoza who was responsible for the interior design of the Executive, Bridal, Family and the Presidential Suites!
Anton's style is embodied in his flair for elegant, cleanlines and the ability to marry contemporary elements with traditional detail (my type!). The suites are done in a timeless color palette of neutral earth tones such as taupe, mocha, espresso and brown with fabrics of linen and suede direct from Spain and accented with Filipino arts and antiques from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Not to mention the furniture pieces designed by Cebu's very own internationally acclaimed furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue and bathroom fixtures which were especially flown in all the way from Italy.
Incorporated into the suite rooms' "new look" is a spacious workspace complete with a personal computer with Wi-Fi technology, printer and fax machine. Flat screen TVs in the living room areas, Plasma colored TVs in the bedrooms, a separate bathtub and a rainshower bath, among others. Another new guest room centerpiece is the Waterfront signature bed: the "Slumber Splendor Bed" which is designed to give every guest an ultra-comfortable rest. It boasts of fluffy duvet covers of 100 percent Egyptian cotton, 300 thread count bed linens, a premium mattress top and six feathery soft goose down pillows. Such a treat to every guest who value their rest and sleep, after all, that's what a hotel should offer-comfort.
The P60million room and suite enhancement/renovation program is part and parcel of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino's efforts for the recently concluded ASEAN Summit.
Congratulations, Waterfront! Definitely, it's a job very well done!
