Among the paintings included in the exhibit are: Dalagang Bukidnon which describes a very simple day-to-day life of a rural lass; The Faithful that features annual processions participated by believers; Memories of Youth that shows carefree children playing in the river of Badian, Cebu; Koi which highlights its colorful and fascinating variety; and Dumanjug Church representing the remnants of the Spanish era.
Dela Cerna uses acrylic, oil and watercolor in translating his impressions and emotions into art. In his career as professional artist, he has held five (5) one-man shows and several group exhibitions here in the Philippines and abroad (in New York and Germany). He has garnered remarkable awards which includes, among others, the Grand Prize Winner in Filipino Values Painting Competition in 1993 and a Silver Medal Award in the Martino Abellana Art Competition.
He was born on March 11, 1951 in Cebu City and earned his Commerce degree in 1976. His inborn talent and passion for arts took his career on a sudden shift. His artistic skills have been inspired by the late Cebuano master Martino Abellana who made a significant contribution in enhancing his talents. These were further developed through his association with professional artist friends. Married to Josephine Emnace, he is blessed with two children, Jill and James.
