A fashionable trail of three cities

At the BPI World Perks Express Card launch inside the cavernous Arctic Room of the Waterfront Hotel in Lahug, Cebu City, special guests were ushered to a travelogue through three fashion capitals as top designers Arcy Gayatin, Jun Escario and Philip Rodriguez unveiled their pre-holiday collections.
First stop: Tokyo. Arcy Gayatin's undisputed mastery in sending subliminal images is again very evident in her collection, as opposed to utilizing blatant Japanese influences. A de-grained purple fabric is ingeniously lined in burgundy sheath, strategically attached with a burgundy obi sash. Origami is the inspiration behind a patched bustier paired with a burgundy long skirt and adorned with a jade choker. A cropped kimono-inspired jacket topped a pleated dress while a plum dress featured draped Japanese print brocade that beautifully cascaded into the back part, highlighting a low cut design. All so chic, all so modern!
Next stop: Paris. Volume is the operative word as Jun Escario unveiled a line of long (but not lean, mind you) gowns that clearly evoke glamour. What immediately comes to mind is Lulu de la Falaise in her heydays. From a pleated purple long dress with thigh-high slit and a long trail to a nude halter dress bedecked with ostrich feathers, evening drama is what it's all about for this designer.
Last stop: New York. Inspired by the lifestyles of the urban sophisticates like the Miller sisters and cosmetic heiresses, the Lauders, Philip Rodriguez' collection reeks of sophistication in a contemporary set up. Picture Aerin Lauder in her bubble dress in gold brocade clutching a beaded bag, or Princess Alexandra in her mauve chiffon dress lined with nude satin slip. Oh so fashionably perfect!
Bravissimo to Arcy Gayatin, Jun Escario and Philip Rodriguez. Kudos to director Junjet Primor & his staff and the ASAP triumvirate of April Rama, Desiree Gabrillo and Kate Uy.
