The Miss Cebu 2006 Coronation Night: A Fashionista's Dream
January 20, 2006 | 12:00am
The cavernous Pacific Grand ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel in Lahug, reverberated with the cheers and jubilations from almost everybody inside as hunky host TJ Manotoc announced the balmy coronation night's winner- Miss Cebu 2006 Stephanie Rose Basubas Señires abloom and drop dead gorgeous in fashion designer Wendell Quisido's orchid yellow peek-a-boo stretch jersey gown. Stephanie, together with fellow M.A.C. models and statuesque hosts Karla Bautista and Melanie Ediza set the tone for the evening's mood and mode. Indeed, floralia was the operative word that night and were abloom everywhere as the ballroom became a new fashion arena of sorts.
Hard to miss and easily spotted were our charming First Lady Margot Osmeña in pastilles detailed gown with miniature pink flowers splattered in every inch of the fabric by Philip Rodriguez and the chairman of the board of judges ABS-CBN's Charo Santos Concio in a strapless and pleated column gown adorned with a tulip brooch. The oh so chic mother-daughter tandem of Arcy Gayatin and Cbill Gayatin upped the fashion quotient with their lace tunic top and slim pants and a bubble dress respectively.
Not to be outdone were the gentlemen, with the other hunky host Borgy Manotoc in Philip Rodriguez' sharply tailored suit with a printed shirt, sporting a big smile at the sight of all the beautiful belles. It was when designer Protacio, who donned a daffodil shirt and carnation pink tie from his own line, gave me a thumbs up signifying that he approved that night is indeed a fashion milestone. Thus, I rest my case. Kudos to ace director Junjet Primor and Cebu City Commissioner Philip Rodriguez for a splendid job.
