Shopping 101

Shopping can be frustrating for many reasons. Just because there are people who are called shopping freaks doesn't mean the same people can be called shopping experts. Wardrobe shopping is even made riskier by factors to be considered: trend (Is this the latest?), style (Will this cut look good on me?), color (Can I pair this with items already in my closet?), etc. Then, topping the list is money. How much do you want or do you need to spend? These questions can freak you out, all right! The following tips may help in keeping your sanity intact.
Plan ahead. Long and short term planning are applicable in updating your wardrobe. Taking note of items needed every time you dress each morning, is long term planning. Tack your "needs list" near your closet. Doing a closet inventory can also do the trick. If you have to seriously ask yourself whether that blue skirt is useful or not, maybe it isn't at all.
Short term planning refers to the day when you do your shopping. From your needs list, identify priorities, then create your shopping budget. As much as you can, stick to what you have already decided to avoid regret later on. Before you head to the store, be sure you are dressed appropriately. If you plan on buying footwear, for instance, wear something you can just slip on and off because you will be doing a lot of it before you can choose and purchase new footwear.
Plastic or cash? Either medium has its own advantage and disadvantage. Using the credit card provides a big temptation to splurge while bringing a huge amount of money when shopping makes you vulnerable to pickpockets.
Invest wisely. Compare prices and quality by visiting a lot of stores. Shop at discount stores for basic clothing like tees, shirts and pants, so you can still shop for accessories. Basic fashion tip - when following the fashion trend, it is better to update on accessories. For example, to achieve the Bohemian rage, no need of wardrobe overhaul. Wearing beaded belts, using bedded bags or wearing chunky bracelets and earrings will yield the Boho look.
Finding the right underwear is equally important, as they can shape the body under the clothes. When shopping for them, opt for good quality that can last for a long time since they are 'staple' items.
Take note of the season. When buying clothes, match the type of fabric to the season. These few months before Christmas can be cold so polyester fabric is okay but when the summer comes, refrain from buying this kind since it does not retain moisture causing you to sweat profusely. These are just the basics on shopping. Keep your eyes and ears open, along the way you can pick up tips to make your shopping comfortable.
