Exceed your vision
July 8, 2005 | 12:00am
Are you camera shy? Undoubtedly, I am. Reason? I don't wish others to see how unphotogenic I am. In fact, I can count with my fingers the number of photos I've ever had as yet. My parents, however, had managed to keep an album of me from birth until I turned five - all in black and white. Truth be told, the edges of these photo prints have turned sepia - enough giveaway as to my present age.
Over the years, the photo technology has leapt to a booming advancement that taking pictures is made a lot easier, cheaper and in full color, too! In this digital era, photographs have become larger than life, justified with vibrant colors that's picture perfect!
Ask Jon Unson, one of the most versatile lensmen in Cebu, and he will readily tell you that there's more to just simply seeing an object through the lens. True, every click is a captured moment of that one wonderful millisecond of this thing called LIFE!
Jon's expertise in handling the camera - his visionary creativity, stylistic flair, spunk and attitude that can be captured on cam - has made him one of the most sought-after fashion photographers today.
Enter Epson Philippines, which is bravely responding to the call of the arts and recognizing that the visual arts is an extension of the human spirit. With the artful and meticulous assistance of Witscraft Production headed by Mark Maceda, Epson Philippines taps some of Cebu's creative individuals in the field of photography, fashion designing, accessory crafting, ramp modeling and music making. Merge these artists together in one big event maximizing Epson scanners and printers as they roll out the red carpet for Epson = Photo 2005 (read: Epson equals Photo). Through this fusion, Epson Philippines intrinsically explains its new tagline, "Epson: Exceed Your Vision."
"There is definitely more to what one will see in this big event," Maceda says. "First, Epson will introduce its latest models of scanners and printers to Cebuanos and offer these technological innovations at affordable and competitive costs. Second, there's the photo exhibit of Jon Unson during the said affair. Third, selected Cebuano models will grace the ramp donning the creations of Cary Santiago, Peewee Senining and Brian Aloquin, three of Cebu's wonders in the fashion world. Fourth, there's Lumad Nomad Art Group, which will exclusively create fahion accessories out of Unson's photos printed from Epson technology," Maceda elaborates.
How all these art and artists will perfectly blend and fit together we will all witness on July 15-17, 2005 at SM City-Cebu's Atrium B&C, 4:30 p.m.
Still camera shy? I still am. But, since an Epson scanner and printer are here to do the wonders for me right in the confines of my own workplace, I believe it's worth taking my own photos now. After all, it takes only me to appreciate me.
