The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  January 8 - The Boy and The Heron (from Encore Films/Warner Bros.)

Studio Ghibli’s and Hayao Miyazaki’s award-winning and record-breaking anime film “The Boy and The Heron”  is a big fantastical film that follows a boy named Mahito (voiced by Soma Santoki) who enters a magical world with a talking grey heron after finding an abandoned tower in his new town. Yearning for his mother, Mahito ventures into a world shared by the living and the dead where death comes to an end and life finds a new beginning. This is a semi-autobiographical fantasy about life, death, creation and a tribute to friendship that can only come from the mind of Hayao Miyazaki.

January 17 - Migration (from Universal Pictures International)

Illumination invites you to take flight into the thrill of the unknown with a funny, feathered family vacation like no other in the action-packed new original animated comedy, “Migration” featuring the voices of Awkwafina, Elizabeth Banks, Danny DeVito, Keegan-Michael Key and Kumail Nanjani. Directed by Benjamin Renner, the film’s latest trailer features Taylor Swift’s version of “Out of the Woods” as we see the film’s featured family of ducks leaving their comfort zone to explore a bigger world beyond their home.

January 17 - Tokyo Revengers 2: Bloody Halloween - Destiny (from Encore Films/Warner Bros.)

From the manga series, this gangster story stars Takumi Kitamura as Takemichi, who goes back in time to his school days to prevent the gang who killed his girlfriend.

January 17 - Anyone But You (Columbia Pictures)

In this new edgy and sexy romantic-comedy, Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell play romantic enemies who have to put aside their personal vendettas and pretend to be a head-over-heels couple in order to keep the peace at Bea’s sister’s dream destination wedding.

January 31 - Argylle (Universal Pictures International)

From the twisted mind of Matthew Vaughn comes Argylle, a razor-witted, reality-bending, globe-encircling spy thriller. Reclusive author Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard) writes best-selling espionage novels about a secret agent named Argylle (Henry Cavill) who’s on a mission to unravel a global spy syndicate. However, when the plots of her books start to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, the line between fiction and reality begin to blur. The ensemble cast also includes Sam Rockwell, John Cena, Ariana DeBose, Dua Lipa, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, Sofia Boutella, and Samuel L. Jackson.
