8 entries to the 1st Summer MMFF revealed

The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has announced the eight entries for the very first MMFF Summer Edition.

For sure, Noranians are rejoicing because their idol Nora Aunor is part of the filmfest. Ate Guy’s film titled “Isa Pang Bahaghari” from Heaven’s Best Entertainment and directed by Joel Lamangan, has been chosen as one of the official entries. Also in the cast of this family drama are Phillip Salvador and Michael de Mesa.

The other entries are:

“A Hard Day,” directed by Law Fajardo, top billed by Dingdong Dantes. This is produced by Viva Communications, Inc. and features John Arcilla as Dingdong’s antagonist. The action film has a very impressive trailer and should be a frontrunner in the box-office race.

“Tagpuan,” a romance film featuring Alfred Vargas, Iza Calzado and Shaina Magdayao. This is a film by Mac Alejandre for Alternative Vision (AV) Cinema.

Tin Can, Ten 17P and Viva Films is presenting “Love The Way You Lie” starring Xian Lim, Alex Gonzaga and Kylie Versoza directed by RC Delos Reyes.

From ABS-CBN Film Productions is another romantic comedy titled “Love or Money,” the first movie team-up of Angelica Panganiban and Coco Martin under the direction of Mae Cruz-Alviar.

Also in the summer filmfest is the comeback film of former Jinggoy Estrada titled “Coming Home” which he produced under Maverick Films. This star-studded family drama also features Sylvia Sanchez, Edgar Allan Guzman and Martin del Rosario under the direction of Adolfo Alix, Jr.

From Regal Entertainment is the lone horror movie titled “The Missing” that stars Joseph Marco, Ritz Azul and Miles Ocampo.

Also making it as entry is the romance movie from T-Rex Entertainment Productions titled “Ngayon Kaya,” which is the first team-up of award-winning actors Janine Gutierrez and Paolo Avelino. Sir Rex Tiri of T-Rex Films says he is proud of the film directed by Prime Cruz.

Harlene Bautista of Heaven’s Best Entertainment said she is thankful that the screening committee chose “Isa Pang Bahaghari.”

“Hindi mo man makuha ang gusto at a certain time, gagawa nang paraan si Lord na makuha mo ito at the right time,” said the producer and sister of former Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista.

Expected to fight it out at the box-office are “A Hard Day” which is hard action, “The Missing” which is a horror and “Love or Money,” a comedy which presents a new tandem in Angelica and Coco.

Predicted to be sleeper hits are “Ngayon Kaya” and “Love The Way You Lie.” Expected to reap honors is “Isa Pang Bahaghari” which has award-winning actors in the cast, led by Nora, Phillip and Michael. It wass produced by Heaven’s Best Entertainment which also produced “Rainbow’s Sunset,” the big winner at the 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival.

While Nora is acknowledged as queen of the MMFF, being the most awarded actress in the festival’s history, she can make history anew if she wins the best actress award in the very first Summer Metro Manila Film Festival which will run from April 11 to 21.

Vin Abrenica says he is happy with what is happening in his career and is likewise pleased with matters of the heart. The newest celebrity endorser of Hanford underwear met with the media to talk about his new endorsement deal, his very first.

“I am happy with my relationship with Sophie (Albert). We’ve been together for some time and we’ve talked about getting married. But I’d like to tell you that there is no wedding happening soon. And if ever there is, I am a very private person, we will just surprise you with it,” said Vin.

“I am excited. It feels really great to be part of a great company like Hanford. Dreams do come true and I really believe it because for the longest time, I’ve been dreaming to have something like this. I’ve been working out every day. And I am also praying. I would like to thank Hanford for the trust. I hope I will be able to help Hanford become even more successful,” said Vin.

The Kapamilya hunk said getting the Hanford endorsement is very special. “Anything that you have for the first time is special: your first love, first kiss and so is your first endorsement,” added Vin.

So what can we expect from Vin as the new celebrity endorser? “I will be doing mall shows and I am glad being onstage because it is my happy place. I will be having my own pictorial for the billboards. So I am really excited to see myself on EDSA,” added Vin who said he is willing to pose wearing only an undergarment.

“Nagwala ako when I learned Hanford got me as endorser,” he said laughing. “I am so happy kasi.”
