Horror-gothic movie to film in Dumaguete

BG Productions International, headed by amiable producer Ms. Baby Go, will continue making more movies to provide jobs to film industry people. Ms. Baby Go vows to produce more advocacy films which have been her company’s trademark.

The film outfit just wrapped up filming “Latay” starring Lovi Poe and Allen Dizon under the direction of Ralston Jover.

Set to start filming on December is a horror-gothic film to be directed by Joey Romero and shot in Dumaguete. The film, with the working title “Hipnotismo,” will star Kapamilya actress Beauty Gonzales together with Kapamilya hunk Enzo Pineda. Also part of the cast are Polo Ravales, former Miss Universe 3rd runner-up Ariella Arida and Mr. World Philippines 2018 JB Saliba.

“Hipnotismo” tells the story of a newly-wed couple (Beauty and Enzo) who goes to Dumaguete for their honeymoon. But their stay in an old house sets off mysterious and scary events that nearly destroys their young marriage.

Direk Joey Romero, son of the late National Artist for Film Eddie Romero, helmed the horror film “Vampira” starring Ms. Maricel Soriano which won the Best Film Award at the Young Critics Circle. Writing the script of “Hipnotismo” is Eric Ramos, who also wrote the script of the MMFF entry “Rainbow’s Sunset.”

“It is really my passion to produce movies. I will continue to make films that are relevant and that have good stories that people will like. It’s been my dream to do a horror film and I am happy we are doing it in Dumaguete where I was born and raised. We want to show the beauty of Dumaguete in our movie,” said Ms. Baby Go.

Quezon City Pride Council on Saturday (November 10) had a very successful Coronation Night of the Queen of Quezon City held at the UP Theater.

“The grand coronation night was designed to promote respect, equality, pride and empowerment to the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community) whom we believe are equal partners in community building,” said QC Mayor Herbert Bautista in his message to the candidates of the unique contest.

“Through this search, the second Queen of Quezon City should be able to exemplify our appreciation of the innate beauty, talent, intelligence and courage of the LGBT community to come out in the open and work as our advocates for its equal treatment.”

Crowned as Queen of Quezon City was Casey Banes Paculan from Pinyahan, QC who received a P300,000 cash prize, trophy and sash. She also won six special awards namely Most Photogenic, Simply G Award, Darling of the Press, Best in Swimsuit, Best in Evening Gown and WEMSAMP Choice.

Winning Lady Pride is Summer Lariosa from Dioquino Zobel while Winning Lady Respect is Pamz Diaz from Commonwealth. Rami Hannash from Santa Lucia won as Lady Equality. All of them won crowns, sashes and trophies, plus P100,000 cash prize each.

Winners of the Special Awards are Best in Creative Costume - #23 Pamz Diaz (Gulod); Above Sea Level Special Award - #9 Naomi Fontanos (UP Village); Miss Friendship - #11 Samantha Garcia (Bagong Silangan); Best in Talent - #9 Naomi Fontanos; H & H Choice Award - #23 Pamz Diaz; and Queen of Social Media – #5 Louise Manalo (San Roque).

Even before the start of the city’s rehabilitation, Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) recently joined GMA Kapuso Foundation, Inc., government, military and police officials in the formal turnover of their donation of a new, modern public school building for Camp Bagong Amai Pakpak Elementary School in Marawi City.

GMA Kapuso Foundation is led by GMA Network, Inc. chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, and the foundation’s COO Rikki Escudero Catibog, while FFCCCII is led by Zamboanga-born industrialist Domingo Yap as president.

Representing FFCCCII in Marawi were Wilson Lee Flores who gave a speech on the ethnic Chinese minority’s long tradition of philanthropy in the Philippines including FFCCCII’s “Operation Barrio Schools” project; welfare committee vice-chairmen Ang Cho Lim and Vorakarn Prenksamar, director Kimson Cua, Lanao Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce president James Yu and auditor Dominic Lim, coordinator Carlos Legaspi.

Other partners who assisted this Marawi public school building included Princess Dato Sri Dr. Becky Leogardo, Wilcon Depot, Republic Cement led by president Renato Sunico, “Eat Bulaga” noontime show led by CEO Tony Tuviera and GMA-7 actor Alden Richards. More new public school building donations by FFCCCII and GMA Kapuso Foundation, Inc. shall be turned over in November also in Marawi City.

For its 23rd anniversary, “Bubble Gang” will present a narrative uniquely intertwining the show’s popular segment forms – talk, interview, musical parody, sketches, commercial spoof and gag dubbed as Bente Tres Oras. This year’s special tells the adventures of Bea Bangenge (Michael V) and Toto Batoto (Antonio Aquitania) as they embark on a journey to find a WIFI connection for Bea.

On their trip, they will meet famous “Bubble Gang” characters such as Antonietta, Don Cantoni, Mr. Assimo, Tata Lino, the Balitang Ina hosts, Lebrown James and many more. The telemovie will be shown on Nov. 23.
