Shay Mitchell on life beyond ‘Pretty Little Liars’

CEBU, Philippines - Shay Mitchell is most definitely living her best self!The “Pretty Little Liars” actress recently spoke to Self magazine about the various platforms she plans on championing beyond her role as Emily Fields.

“The message I’m trying to put out there is that you can do whatever you want to do, and if I’m going to say that, I need to do it myself,” the 29-year-old Fil-Canadian told the magazine.

And Mitchell sticks to her word! Whether it's traveling, health, or lifestyle, this television star shares it all with her fans on her YouTube channel, boasting over one and a half million subscribers.

“I have so many different interests and love trying new things, which is how the YouTube channel came about,” she explained. “Next I’m doing a series on my workout lifestyle.”

Make no mistake, Mitchell’s workouts are not for the weak at heart. The athletic beauty told the magazine she enjoys boxing, spinning, and long runs. “I want to do my own stunts,” she says.

The multifaceted celebrity also shared that she looks up to entrepreneur and fellow actress, Jessica Alba. “My generation realizes you can be multihyphenated,” says Mitchell. “You don’t have to stay in a box.”

Mitchell proved she won’t be confined to a box, shaking things up this past June.

The “Pretty Little Liars” actress stepped away from her usual set and starred in singer Nick Jonas’ steamy music video, “Under You.”

“Shay is amazing,” Jonas, 23, told E! News exclusively. “She’s obviously gorgeous and an amazing person. I think she matches her beauty in her personality. She’s really sweet. She was willing to dig really deep in the video. It’s an emotional song and required pretty intense acting situations as well. I thought she killed it.” (FREEMAN)
