‘Tubig at Langis’ tests limits of marriage
CEBU, Philippines - Kapamilya stars Zanjoe Marudo and Christine Reyes team up once more, and together with Isabelle Daza, topbill a different kind of love story that tests the limits of marriage, challenges the strength of family, and shows the true value of love in ABS-CBN’s newest series “Tubig at Langis,” premiering this Monday, February 1, on the Kapamilya Gold timeslot.
“Tubig at Langis” follows the story of Irene (Cristine), a young woman who vows to do everything in her capacity to keep her family intact, especially after her mother abandoned them when she was young.
She falls in love with Jaime (Victor Silayan), a seemingly perfect prince charming, who promises to stay by her side through all her challenges. But Irene soon finds out that he is already a married man. This breaks her heart and no matter how hard she tries to relinquish the pain, she is left with a living reminder, their son Myko, played by up-and-coming child star Miguel Vergara.
After a few years, Irene’s childhood friend Natoy (Zanjoe) returns to her life. The two fall in love and eventually get married. Finally, Irene gets what she has always wanted, until one night when Natoy succumbs to barrio lass Clara (Isabelle), whom he meets during one of his business trips.
What will Irene do once she finds out the truth about Natoy’s infidelity? How will she protect her family?
Under the direction of FM Reyes, “Tubig at Langis” includes a powerhouse line-up of stars such as Vivian Velez, Lito Pimentel, Nadia Montenegro, Efren Reyes Jr., Ingrid Dela Paz, Dionne Monsanto, Pamu Pamorada, and Archie Alemania.
The series is inspired by the 1980 movie “Langis at Tubig” starring Vilma Santos, Amy Austria and Dindo Fernando and directed by the late Danny Zialcita, with the theme song sung by Sharon Cuneta. (FREEMAN)
