It’s Cebu Pop season again!
CEBU, Philippines – Cebuanos will once again showcase their innate musical artistry in the 36th Cebu Pop Music Festival finals night this Friday, January 15, at the Cebu Coliseum.
For this year’s edition, finalists were divided into three categories: Environmental (Mga Awit sa Kalikopan), Inspirational (Mga Awit nga Malamdamon) and Love Song (Mga Awit sa Gugma). The 12 finalists were chosen from among 150 entries submitted last year.
Grand prize is P100,000 for each of the three categories; Best Interpreter will be given P10,000, while a qualifying prize of P20,000 each will be handed to non-winners.
The annual Cebu Pop competition was a brainchild of former congressman Eduardo R. Gullas, as his offering to the Señor Sto. Niño and his contribution in keeping the Cebuano music industry, culture and language alive.
Cebu Pop gave opportunities to composers and singers alike to flourish in the music industry such as Sheryn Regis, Anna Fegi, Eva Santos, Raki Vega, Vina Morales and Chad Borja.
