Leonardo DiCaprio talks Oscar buzz
CEBU, Philippines – Leonardo DiCaprio was just as baffled as reporters when The Drudge Report posted a story claiming that the actor gets raped by a bear in his new epic drama “The Revenant.”
“I have no idea where these ridiculous things come from, and what you do when you hear stuff like that?” the Golden Globe nominee said at the film’s premiere last night in Hollywood. “It’s absurd. It’s absurd.”
The scene in question actually shows DiCaprio being attacked by a female bear when she thinks her cubs are in danger.
One thing DiCaprio definitely did suffer through while making the movie was eating bison liver.
“It’s something that I won’t repeat, that’s for sure,” he told E! News. “We submerged ourselves in the elements for this film. We really wanted to create something incredibly authentic so these types of adventures lend themselves to taking chances like that.”
“You want to be as authentic as you possibly can with every decision that you make and that resulting in me biting into something that was pretty disgusting and my real reaction is on film and up there onscreen.”
Many Oscar pundits believe DiCaprio will finally win his first Academy Award for his work in the Alejandro González Iñárritu-directed film that also stars Tom Hardy.
“We wanted to make a great piece of art, so if the film gets great reviews, if it gets great business, if it gets awards, that’s fantastic because I want to see more movies like this out there coming from Hollywood,” DiCaprio said. “This is truly like a poetic existential epic and you don]’t get to see stuff like this happen very often. So, I could only wish it all the success in the world.”
