Freeman Cebu Entertainment

Proud to be part of AlDub history

- Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

We were part of AlDub history and we are proud to say that. We were part of the select group of entertainment writers invited by Eat Bulaga to witness Ang Tamang Panahon, which marked the first real encounter of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza a.k.a. Yaya Dub at the 55,000-seater Philippine Arena last Saturday, October 24.

We witnessed the overflowing love and support from AlDub Nation. It was a jampacked, all seats-taken affair at the Philippine Arena. More chairs were added at the floor area to accommodate those who wanted to watch history unfold right before their eyes.

AlDub Nation, as the fans of Alden and Yaya Dub are called, showed their love and overwhelming support for the most popular tandem in local showbiz now. It was a sight to behold to see the AlDub fans occupying every available seat at the Philippine Arena. Their response whenever a picture or video of an AlDub commercial would be flashed was magical. We can feel our hair rising with the excitement because of the infectious air brought by the warm response given by AlDub Nation.

It was kind of hard to describe in words the positive vibes sent out by the crowd. It was collective response of love, support and good vibes that one can’t help but be driven to tears. We were moved many times over even before the actual Eat Bulaga telecast started. We lost count how many times we wiped away our tears. We can’t help but be touched.

It was such a wonderful feeling seeing the AlDub Nation expressing their love for Alden and Maine. Their response was genuine and pure. And their more than 41 million tweets proved it.

We are happy for Alden and Yaya Dub. The right time  (tamang panahon) has really come. There is no question they are the most popular tandem this side of showbiz, akin to the storied loveteam of Nora Aunor and Tirso Cruz III in the 70s.

Eat Bulaga garnered an overwhelming 50.8 percent rating, beating the rival show to the pulp, as it only managed 5.4 percent based on the survey of AGB Nielsen. It was as if what everyone wanted last Saturday was to watch Ang Tamang Panahon.

It was kilig overload inside the Philippine Arena. It was very heartening to note that Alden acknowledges the big help given by Maine to boost his popularity. It was a very gentlemanly gesture from the Pambansang Bae. It was very humbling for Alden because he shared his success with Maine and he knows that it was thru Yaya Dub and the Kalye Serye that their tandem clicked.

The phenomenal tandem garnered more than 41 million tweets for Ang Tamang Panahon, beating their previous record of 25.6 million tweets which happened last September. There is something magical about the AlDub tandem – magic that is hard to explain but it is real and felt.

And with the reaction shown by the fans to the trailer of the first movie of AlDub titled “My Pabebe Love,” then it is safe to assume that the movie, which co-stars them with Vic Sotto and Ai Ai delas Alas, will emerge as blockbuster of the festival this coming December.

Congratulations to Eat Bulaga for the success of Ang Tamang Panahon. They were able to raise P14 million which will be used to construct AlDub libraries in various places in the country. They not only served entertainment but also ventured into something relevant.

Have an extraordinary weekend at the country's only heritage resort by the sea, Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, on October 31, as Lani Misalucha serenades guests for an enchanted evening of music and memories in “Harana.”

Lani’s other iconic hits include Vehnee Saturno’s “Ang Lahat Ng Ito Ay Para Sa Iyo,” Jimmy Borja’s “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin,” and Liza Diy’s “Tila.” She became the first Asian to headline a show in Main Showroom of the Las Vegas strip, performing with Hawaii’s Society of Seven at the Jubilee Theatre of Bally’s and at the Main Showroom of the Flamingo.

Asia’s Nightingale is here now to perform in “Harana,” the one-of-a-kind concert happening at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar’s newly opened Hotel de Oriente Convention Centre, a replica of the first ever-luxurious hotel in Manila. Aside from her world-class performance, guests will enjoy a four-course dinner in the midst of the picturesque hall featuring outstanding Filipino crafts and artworks.

Spread over 400 hectares, Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar features a collection of Spanish Colonial buildings and stone houses (bahay na bato in Tagalog), planned to resemble a settlement reminiscent of the period.

This will be the first huge musical event at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, a history-in-the-making as it opens grounds for grand meetings, exhibits and shows with Hotel de Oriente Convention Centre. Its two large venues, Manila and Binondo Halls, can each accommodate up to 1,000 guests.

Musical director of “Harana” is Mell Villena, while the musical accompaniment will be provided by the AMP Band.

Tickets for two are available for P20,000 with overnight room accommodation for October 31-November 1, dinner, set breakfast, guided heritage tour, and pool and beach access. A group of four will get the same perks for only P35,000. Also available are tickets for the dinner and show for P10,000 per person.

Book your tickets now via Ticketworld and at selected major National Bookstore branches, selected Robinsons Department Stores, in Ayala Malls – Greenbelt 1 and Trinoma Cinema Box Office, and at Resorts World Manila Box Office.

Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar is located in Bagac, Bataan, easily accessible via NLEX and SCTEX. It is a project of New San Jose Builders, Inc. and managed by Asian Grand Legacy Hotels Corp.
