Director says ‘Moron 5’ part 3 is in the works

- Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

Director Wenn V. Deramas is bringing to comedy fans his latest movie titled “Moron 5.2 The Transformation” which marks the big screen return of the successful Viva Films flick which starred Luis Manzano, Marvin Agustin, Billy Crawford, DJ Durano and Matteo Guidicelli plus John “Sweet” Lapus as Becky Pamintuan, the nemesis of Moron 5.

“We all thoroughly enjoyed doing the film. It doesn’t seem like work. Parang naglalaro lang kami,” said Direk Wenn during the movie’s presscon. “Masaya ang atmosphere sa set. Walang tension, very relaxed kaya madali kaming nakatapos.”

The sequel was in Direk Wenn’s mind even before the movie hit the theaters and became a blockbuster. But when asked if he is feeling the pressure to make the film another hit, Direk Wenn says no.

“I am giving that pressure to my producers. Ginawa ko na what I am supposed to do and that is deliver to them what I believe is a good project that the audience will enjoy. It’s up to my producers to sell my movie the best way they can para ito ay kumita. Of course, I want ‘Moron 5.2 The Transformation’ to make money because we are already planning the part three.”

Direk Wenn said he has seen “Moron 5.2 The Transformation” and without batting an eyelash said it is certainly better than the first one. He confidently said it would be a big hit when it airs in cinemas on November 5.

“Bacao” tells the story of Mayet (Michelle Madrigal), a barrio girl that blossoms into a sensuous and provocative woman and desired by many men. Her heart, though, belongs to only one — her husband Abel (Arnold Reyes).

The movie is the first starring role for Michelle. Insiders say that “Bacao” is tailor-fit for the morena actress as director Edgardo “Boy” Vinarao crafted it for her.

We asked Michelle what her reaction was upon knowing that she is starring in “Bacao.” “I was initially nervous but Direk Boy was so nice and accommodating, yet precise in giving me instructions and helping me picture out the role I was playing. The rape scene was especially challenging but with the help of Direk Boy and co-star Direk Leo Martinez, it came out super artistic and yet realistic,” she said.

Asked about Michelle as an actress, Vinarao said a lot of good things about her. “Michelle is an excellent actress. There is a certain depth in her acting. She’s easy to work with and fun to be with. She follows instructions and is highly professional on the set early with the lines already memorized and internalized. I will always want her to be part of my future projects,” he said.

The movie is produced by Oro de Siete Productions, Inc., which was organized and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on June 11. It has seven incorporators and the officers are Engr. Felizardo R. Sevilla, Chairman of the Board; Rolando G. Pefiaflor, President; Alberto Pascual, Vice President; Marilyn Ballesteros-Mariano, Chief Finance Officer; and the Board of Directors include Amable Tolentino, Jaime Bartolome and Amelita Fernandez.

“Bacao” is one of the four entries to the Sineng Pambansa National Film Festival 2014 to be exhibited by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP). It will be shown in all branches of SM cinemas nationwide starting October 29.
