When fame worked against Kendall Jenner

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  Kendall Jenner was born into a reality fame family, and now she’s opening up about how that has not exactly helped her modeling career.

In an interview with Teen Vogue for its upcoming dual cover September issue, Kendall opens up about how her success did not come easy. “People didn’t want to take a chance on me, I think because I was sort of known. They were a little bit on the fence about it. Some people might think that what I’ve done before made it easier for me to get jobs, but it was actually a disadvantage. I had to work even harder.”

Kendall, 18, has not only been keeping up with the Kardashians, she has been walking the runway for Marc Jacobs and Chanel at New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week. She also has her own clothing line at PacSun with her sister, Kylie.

Growing up in the spotlight made Kendall decide to not start her career too early. She said she, “needed to be a kid for a minute.” This minute lasted until she was 17, when she switched agencies and became selective about her gigs.

She said, “I felt like I should pick specific designers that I wanted to go for so I could make a good first impression — or more like a fifth impression. But it’s my first impression on this world.”
