Facing a new season

CEBU, Philippines -  GMA Artist Center contract artist Kylie Padilla has already bounced back, and it was evident during the recent media gathering for her debut album titled “Seasons.”

The young actress, who was then brimming with a glowing and positive aura, revealed that music helped lift her emotions during one of the lowest times of her life.

“Music is what I turn to when I’m feeling… actually it’s every emotion eh. I don’t know how you call it dahil hindi naman ako musically-inclined na tao talaga. I don’t play any instrument, but I really love music and really appreciate it,” she shared.

Kylie’s passion just went deeper as she recently took on a new role as recording artist, marking her entrance into the music industry with “Seasons.”

Released under GMA Records, the album, which she started working on two years ago, offers eight OPM songs, five of which were self-composed including her carrier single “Gitara.” Also included in the track list are “Awake,” “Mine,” “Thank You,” “Lonely Without You,” “Seasons,” “Sulat,” and “Alive.”

“Lahat naman tayo ay may pinagdadaanang seasons sa buhay, nakakaramdam ng iba’t-ibang emotions, minsan malungkot tayo, minsan masaya. They are all seasons and they all change, lahat ay nag-iiba,” the budding singer answered to a question raised about the album’s story and why it was titled as such.

Asked what the current season of her life is, “spring,” was what Kylie said pertaining to “new beginnings, new lessons to learn, and constant change.” If given the chance, she would rather stay in this state because of the many life and love lessons that came along with it.

“I like this season that I’m in kasi ang daming realizations, one of which is ‘yung palagi kong sinasabi, love yourself. Magtira para sa sarili mo, and focus on what’s more important. Ngayon handa na ako sa future and I’m more excited. Dati I’m scared, natatakot ako, may doubts pa ako, ngayon ready na ako. Iba na ‘yung confidence ko sa lahat ng bagay,” she enthused.

Kylie mentioned that she also dreams of having a concert in Araneta Coliseum but not anytime soon as there are still a lot of things she has to learn.

“Gusto ko munang patunayan ‘yung sarili ko bago ko gawin ‘yun. Feeling ko hindi ko pa deserve eh. Kapag naramdaman ko na sa sarili ko na ready na ako, why not? Pero as of now, I haven’t felt it yet. Wala pa at hihintayin ko muna. Pero oo, pangarap ko ‘yun. Marami lang akong dapat pang patunayan pagdating sa music career ko so when I feel that the time is right, yes,” she explained.

Some of the more experienced Kapuso singers she looks up to are Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and RnB Princess Kyla, while in Hollywood, Taylor Swift would always take the top spot on her list.

If given the chance to perform together with any of the three artists in one stage, she said cheerfully that it would be nothing but “a blessing.”

Kylie said she also tried composing a few more songs after releasing her debut album. “I’ve written a lot. Mas poetic pa ‘yung mga kanta na ‘yun kasi nag-evolve na ako eh. The Kylie two years ago is different from the Kylie now. And the songs, they are deeper; and the way I wrote them, it’s more structured.”

“I’m happier with the songs now. Kailangan talagang basahin ng listeners ‘yung lyrics ko para maintindihan and I like that,” added Kylie, who believes that to a songwriter, every emotion can become an inspiration.

Kylie’s debut album “Seasons” under GMA Records is already out on CDs in record outlets nationwide. It can also be digitally downloaded via iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify.
