BBC’s ‘Human Planet: Jungles Part 1’ tonight on GMA-7
CEBU, Philippines - The rainforest is home to more species of plants and animals than any other habitat on the planet. But for humans, life there is not as easy as it looks.
This Thursday night on GMA, BBC’s Human Planet takes us to the jungles – a bountiful, but surprisingly hostile environment for humans.
Much of life in the rainforests is in the treetops, way out of reach of humans. Hunting canopy animals from the ground requires great skill. The Matis of Brazil carve four-meter-long blow-pipes to hunt monkeys –in near total silence.
In Venezuela, three children from the Piaroa tribe venture deep into the jungle to hunt tarantulas to toast for lunch!
While deep in the Congo forests, Tete defies death by scaling a giant tree using nothing more than a liana vine, and he must then negotiate an angry swarm of bees – all to collect honey for his family.
Narrated in Filipino by multi-awarded documentarist Kara David, the first part of Human Planet’s “Jungles – People of the Trees†airs tonight after “Saksi†on GMA-7. (PR)
