Jennifer Garner: Juggling Hollywood and home life
CEBU, Philippines - Jennifer Garner shared how she and her equally-famous husband, Ben Affleck, juggle their hectic Hollywood and home lives. “I’m pretty selective [over roles],†the working mom, 41, said.
“Everything that comes my way — the first thing we do is talk schedule, location,†she explained. “I sit down with a calendar with my husband and in a very boring way, detail every single week and what’s possible and if it can work out or not.â€
Garner stars in her most recent movie “Draft Day†as the cap specialist for the Cleveland Browns, opposite Kevin Costner, who plays the pro football team’s fictional general manager. “It just so happens that there is a woman in charge of the salary cap at the Cleveland Browns,†Garner explained, adding that she “haunted Megan Rogers,†the NFL team’s real-life cap specialist.
So how did Ben and Jen work it out? The parents of three kids — Violet, 8, Seraphina, 4, and Samuel, 2 — found the “Draft Day†script so compelling that they actually ended up moving their family out to Ohio while mom worked on set. “We loved this movie so much,†Garner said. “The script is so smart that we just moved the kids to Cleveland. And had a great time!â€
Despite their fun in Cleveland, the Affleck-Garner brood will forever remain faithful to Boston teams. “When it’s playoffs and the Patriots or Red Sox are in the playoffs… stop everything,†Garner joked of her hubby who hails from Boston. “Eat in front of the TV, the world revolves around the game. Pretty intense.â€
On a recent talk show appearance, Garner also chatted about the difference between being mom and being dad in their household. “We are divided down a very mom-dad [line]. If it has to do with making food, or homework, or anything that has to do with actually functioning…that’s a mom thing. Sorry, it’s true. Then, coming in just as you’re getting them to bed and picking them up by their heels and swinging them around, that’s a dad thing. Anything fun, that is Ben,†she joked. (FREEMAN)
