Fresh from his award winning performance in “10,000 Hours” at the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival where he bagged the Best Actor award, action star Robin Padilla comes back onscreen via the heart-pounding action flick titled “Sa Ngalan Ng Ama, Ina, At Mga Anak.”

The movie recently premiered at the Geegee Cinema 1 in Ozamiz where thousands of fans flocked to see and meet the film’s cast. Cast members who attended the premiere showing were Robin, his brother Rommel Padilla and his nephews RJ Padilla and Matt Padilla.

A joint project of Star Cinema and RCP Productions, the film gathers the iconic Padilla clan for the very first time in one gigantic movie. It also features appearances by Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla, Kylie Padilla, Bela Padilla and Daniel Padilla, who is undoubtedly the biggest star in the family nowadays, something that Robin also acknowledges.

“Sa Ngalan Ng Ama, Ina, At Mga Anak” is a period film set in the turbulent 70s. It is loosely based on the real-life story of Ongkoy (played by Robin) who was once the leader of the infamous anti-vigilante group “Kuratong Baleleng” that gained notoriety in Ozamiz City during the 70s.

The film aims to address the truth and lies that shrouded the “Kuratong Baleleng.” The movie valiantly proves that love of family and for country will always prevail despite troublesome times.

Directed by Jon Villarin, the film also stars Christopher de Leon, Dina Bonnevie, Dennis Padilla, Pen Medina and Aljur Abrenica.

It had a grand premiere in Manila at the Gateway Mall last night. The movie opens today in theaters nationwide as part of Star Cinema’s 20th anniversary celebration.

The biggest showbiz news this week is the mauling incident involving dancer cum comedian Vhong Navarro. The embattled host of “Showtime” had already said his side of the story last Sunday at “Buzz ng Bayan.”

In the same breath, his supposed attacker Cedric Lee and his alleged rape victim Deniece Cornejo have also given their version of the incident which happened in a condo unit at The Fort.

Since both sides have spoken, the public and netizens are waiting with bated breath as to what will happen to the case. Both camps have said that they will file charges against each other to protect their person. For sure, we will be hearing more of this issue in the days to come. Everyone hopes that the truth will come out so that justice will be rendered to the aggrieved party.

Filipino-Irish-American saxophonist and singer Philip Mahoney launched his very first self-titled album on Tuesday at the new The Library located at Metrowalk in Pasig City.

Philip, who speaks only little Tagalog (“konti lang” as a burger commercial says) had his first live performance at eight years old for American retirees in Orlando. Not to be left out, the Filipino community of Central Florida started featuring him in major events, including PhilFest (Tampa) and Filipino Pride Day (Jacksonville).

Philip became a celebrity in Central Florida at age 17 as artist for TFC’s annual event. His venture into the Philippine music industry happened naturally, as if it was meant to be, as with all the musicality he was born with. His album’s carrier single is titled “Into The Sun” with vocals by Sarah Geronimo. It also contains cuts like “Naaalala Kita,” “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin,” and “Ikaw” among others.
