Kellan Lutz dishes on rigorous ‘Hercules’ training

Banat

CEBU, Philippines - How did Kellan Lutz get his super-sexy ripped bod to play Hercules in the upcoming flick “Hercules: The Legend Begins”? Lot’s of physical training and chocolate!

“I wanted to put on weight,” Lutz told E! News at the HFPA Miss Golden Globe announcement in West Hollywood. “Renny Harlin, the director, he just wanted me cut, so I had to get cut.”

“For me, it was very rigorous training,” he continued. “I had to learn how to ride a horse while wielding a sword and fighting mercenaries, as well as giving a badass speech and in the rain. And horses don’t like the rain. It was very rigorous.”

While the former “Twilight” star’s ripped body proves the physical training paid off, he wasn’t as tough when it came to the Hercules diet.

“If you’ve ever been on a movie set, there’s food all the time,” he dished. “It’s hard to stay healthy because I had milk chocolate bars three times a day, and I’d just eat the whole bar.”

Meanwhile, Lutz joked of Dwayne Johnson, who’s playing Hercules in a separate upcoming flick, “I wanted to get big, but then you have The Rock playing in the other Hercules. There’s not enough ‘extra-curricular’ stuff for that.”

Robin is senator on the run in ‘10,000 Hours’

The teaser trailer for the action thriller “10,000 Hours” debuted on YouTube, offering an exciting glimpse into one of the more intriguing entries to the upcoming 39th Metro Manila Film Festival this December.

“10,000 Hours” stars Robin Padilla as a senator who goes into hiding after he is falsely accused of a crime by no less than the President of the Philippines. If the story sounds familiar, that is because the film is loosely based on the 14 months between January 2010 and March 2011 that Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson spent on the run after he was charged in court as the alleged mastermind of the infamous Dacer-Corbito murder case.

The YouTube introduction bills the film as “the journey of a man who has lived his life by the law and for the law, but, he is also a man betrayed by the law.”

Produced by Philippine Film Studios and Viva Entertainment and partly shot in Amsterdam, “10,000 Hours” is directed by Joyce Bernal and also stars Michael de Mesa, Pen Medina, Mylene Dizon, Joem Bascon, Alden Richards, Bela Padilla and Carla Humphries.

‘Mother of All Talent’ stars share insight on notorious child stars

Who knows child stars better than two child talent agents? “Mother of all Talent” stars Nikki Galarza and Lorrie Tierney, who also happens to be mother and daughter, share their perspectives with TVGuide.com about some of our favorite child stars — where they succeeded, where they went wrong and on the parents pulling the strings.

Miley Cyrus

On what set Miley apart: “She’s a great singer. I think she had the It factor from very early on. I know her father (Billy Ray Cyrus) definitely helped direct her career, but she was super-successful as Hannah Montana,” Tierney says.

On Miley’s image revamp: “I think she had that young fan base and now they’re growing up with her, so she’s continuing her success,” Tierney says. “And you know what, that whole twerking thing, it is what it is. I don’t think it was such a big deal.” However, Galarza disagrees. “I don’t think it was necessary for her to do that. She’s successful anyways.”

On what Miley should do next: “I would like to see her in a film playing maybe a racy character,” Tierney suggests.

Honey Boo Boo

On what set her apart: “One thing in her favor, her mother is good. She puts her money aside for her. She’s doing the right thing about that. As far for the child herself, she was cutesy on ‘Toddlers and Tiaras’ but now I think she’s getting to a different level,” Galarza says.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

On what set them apart: “A child actor cannot be anything without a stage parent and it’s where the stage parent takes it,” Tierney explains. “They were just cute early on, but I think their dad knew what he was doing and knew how to promote them.”

On whether they could still be successful actors: “They still have a huge fan base,” Galarza says. “To be honest, if they were in something, I would be curious to see what they were doing,” Tierney adds.

Britney Spears

On where her career went wrong: “Thinking about how she was raised and where she came from, I do think that you need to be well-rounded as a person. And sometimes these stage parents just focus on these children’s careers and nothing else,” Tierney says. “You need to have an education. You need that. Maybe you need to find other areas that the child likes to do. You can’t just be completely obsessed with having your child be the next big thing.”

On whether she should try acting again: “I was a fan of  ‘Crossroads.’” I mean, it was okay. It was just okay,” Tierney says. “I think she should stick to what she’s good at.”

Amanda Bynes

On what set her apart: “She reminded me of a young Carol Burnett,” Tierney says. “She’s great with improv. She’s a great child actor.”

On where her career went wrong: “I think these child stars are there one moment and they have to realize they may not be there tomorrow. So they need to have a strong ego and a strong psyche. And they need to be secure at home first,” Tierney says.

On whether she could return to acting: “I think she could bounce back. Anyone could bounce back,” Galarza says.

Lindsay Lohan

On where her career went wrong: “I think she’s really, extremely talented. I think her mother kind of screwed her up,” Galarza says, calling Dina “the epitome of a bad stage mom.”

On what she should do next: “She needs to get herself together. She really does, because they will take her back. I mean they did take her back on certain sets. She was late all the time, she was not herself. You can’t do that. You have to act appropriately, act responsible,” Galarza says. “As long as she’s sober, she can do it.” (FREEMAN)
