Long live Pinoy rock!

PR - The Freeman

MANILA, Philippines – Tanduay takes immense pride in being a world-class Filipino product. Since 1854, it has earned the distinction of being one of the finest and most sophisticated rhums around the world.

Today, Tanduay welcomes innovation to extend its legacy. Seven years ago, Tanduay took a 180-degree turn and began its venture into music marketing – a strategy to target the youth. Tanduay recognized that music was a platform that defined youth culture like no other. Since then, channeling support to world-class Filipino musicians has been Tanduay’s stronghold.

Tanduay continues to prove that OPM is not dead and continues to fly the flag as it brings Filipino rock music closer to the people.

One of the revolutionary projects that blended all these elements is “Tanduay First Five.” The annual mythical line up has been rocking the entire Philippines for the past five years, drawing audiences of up to 30,000 in each area. This year alone, the Tanduay First Five bands toured 15 areas.

Tanduay Rhum Rockfest is now on its seventh year. This hotly anticipated event brought together 30 of the biggest bands from the past decades to this generation’s stage.

This year’s Tanduay Rhum Rockfest happened in three places: October 11 in Pueblo de Oro, CDO; Oct. 18 in Iloilo Sports Complex; and Oct. 25 in SM Mall of Asia Open Grounds.

Over the years, the Tanduay Rhum Rock Fest has always been ushered in on a grand scale – with themes of gathering, celebration, and revolution being the core of its campaigns.

For 2013, the momentum of “bigness” remains while bringing the anthem of  “Isang Tinig” closer to the hearts of our audience. This year’s campaign gave a pledge that is uttered not just by the Tanduay Rhum Rockfest Bands – but by ordinary characters from all over the country: students, call center agents, independent artists, laborers, homemakers.

The Panata TVC also features other influencers from the music industry. We have top names from major recording labels such as Flerry De Leon of Warner Music and Kathleen Go of Universal Music. We also have Dingdong Avanzado, performing artist and chief officer of the Organisasyon Para sa Musikang Pilipino.

It is the dream that the Tanduay First Five tours and Tanduay Rhum Rockfest events will continue to inspire rising musicians to hone their craft. Tanduay will carry on mounting a platform where citizens can support and show their love for local music. The Tanduay initiatives ultimately aim to motivate Filipinos to truly love their own – local products, local music. (FREEMAN)
