Guess who left Tom Hiddleston ‘completely starstruck’
CEBU, Philippines - Tom Hiddleston is no stranger to Hollywood. Not only does he play Loki in the “Thor†and “Avengers†movies, but he costarred in Steven Spielberg’s epic “War Horse†and Woody Allen cast him as F. Scott Fitzgerald in “Midnight in Paris.â€
But it was his work with Kermit the Frog in the next Muppets movie, “Muppets Most Wanted,†that seems to have left the biggest impression. “It was amazing,†Hiddleston said. “I got completely starstruck. I have to tell you, I have peaked! It’s all downhill from here. I will never get such a juicy gig again!â€
Oh, we doubt that. In fact, next up for the actor is “Crimson Peak†opposite Jessica Chastain, Charlie Hunnam and Mia Wasikowska for director Guillermo Del Toro.
And now there’s a growing fanboy campaign for Hiddleston to get his own Loki movie. “I don’t know about that,†he said. “We’ll have to wait and see.â€
During a recent appearance on Chelsea Lately, Hiddleston talked about how he originally auditioned to play the titular hammer-wielding Thor. He put on about 20 pounds of muscle before meeting with the franchise’s first director Kenneth Branagh.
“It was really fun, actually,†the 32-year-old British star said. “And I’ve never done anything like that before. I basically went from 180 pounds to 198 pounds and I had something like seven percent body fat.â€
Of course, Chris Hemsworth ended up getting the Prince of Asgard gig. But lucky for Tom, Branagh and Marvel executives saw something else in his audition.
“I auditioned and I swung the hammer but they were always looking for Loki as well, and I think the closer I got, they were like, ‘You should play the bad guy,’†Hiddleston revealed.
He also confirmed he won’t be in “The Avengers 2,†turning over hellraising duties to James Spader who’s set to play the villain in that one. (FREEMAN)
