Grandparents’ Day & Birthday Bashes
It’s Grandparents’ Day today, September 8, reason we have to remind all doting grandpas and grandmas of this most significant day. Happy Grandparents’ Day!

The Garcia sisters, Nelia Neri, Zenda Lat, Joyce Dizon and Gina Atienza jetted to Bangkok for the birthday celebration of their brother-in-law Noppadon Muangkroot, husband of their sister Elma, who celebrated his 6th cycle. The Thais celebrate important birthdays counting cycles. Each cycle is composed of 12 years, hence the sixth cycle means 72 years old. The party was held at the 5-star Plaza Athenee Hotel in Bangkok with no less than Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Pracha Promnok and his wife Khunying Varunee Promnok as special guests. Also around were Nop’s golfmates and former colleagues at the Asian Institute of Technology. Elma’s friends from the International School of Bangkok, extended family and other well-wishers.
The entertainment numbers included Thai dances, songs and a special number from the three Muangkroot boys who sang a special song for their dad!

Fely Alfonso Salimbangon gathered kith and kin at Luy’s resto to celebrate her birthday last August 18. She was surrounded by her loved ones…husband Cesar, children Chad and May, Kan and Rhoanne, and Lauren, mom-in-law Tiya Meling Salimbangon. Also present were members of the Salimbangon clan… Congressman Benhur and Janice, Edwin and Edna, and of course, Carlos and Kit Yeung with Chris and Carla McKowen (she is in that interesting stage) and the members of the BCMFI. By the way, Kit played host at a baby shower last Friday for daughter Carla who is expecting another boy, her second.
