CEBU, Philippines - British boy band A1, Emmy Award-winning producer Michael Carandang, and noted film director Jose Javier “Joey” Reyes, will be conferred as Honorary Members and Celebrity Role Model Awardees by the TINGOG Carolinian Party of the University of San Carlos. The ceremony will take place during the TINGOG Youth Leadership Festival at USC Talamban Campus at 11 AM on Friday, November 23.

Current Honorary Members of TINGOG Carolinian and past Celebrity Role Model Awardees include some of the Philippines' brightest stars who actively campaign for their advocacies: the country’s “King of Talk” Mr. Boy Abunda, Piolo Pascual, Bianca Gonzalez and Raki Vega, who are involved in organizations such as the UNFPA, Haribon, UNICEF,  ICanServe, respectively.

A1’s band members Ben Adams, Mark Read, and Christian Ingebrigtsen were in Cebu last February for a community outreach program in Olango Island. As ambassadors for the YoungLife Village – a project by the YoungLife Health Care & Education Foundation – they are committed to help build a village to house 300 underprivileged children in Olango. Their concert at the Waterfront set on the same day is one that’s meant to raise funds for the YoungLife Village.

Direk Joey Reyes, also teacher and opinion leader, has moved and inspired many through his award-winning works and his honest and thought-provoking commentary as an educator and media personality. Michael Carandang, Emmy Award-winning producer of America’s Next Top Model and the Tyra Banks Show, has helped pave the way for many Filipino talents to make it on the world stage.

The TINGOG Carolinian Party is USC’s premier youth leadership organization that, among other initiatives, trains and equips future leaders through actual immersions in the democratic processes of the Supreme Student Council and extra or co-curricular organizations. Many of TINGOG’s alumni have devoted their lives and careers to the service of others, and now occupy crucial positions in government, the media, multinational companies, the United Nations and other community and development organizations. The Youth Leadership Festival commences the year-long celebration for TINGOG Carolinian as it celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2013.

TINGOG will also be recognizing some of its distinguished alumni, particularly those who’ve committed to bettering the lot of others through their work in the private sector and development organizations.  They are Ms. Emee Lei Albano of the United Nations Population Fund, Mr. Segundo Abrea of 2Explore (an adventure-based training firm), Ms. Marie Sol Delantar-Gonzalvo of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., Mr. Ryan Villaflores of Unilever, Mr. Paul Adolfo of the Philippine Centre for Islam and Democracy & Magbassa Kita Foundation (formerly of World Vision), and Atty.
