Sarah Geronimo as Darna?

SHOWBIZ DRIBBLE - Salve V. Asis - The Philippine Star

I was wondering why Claudine Barretto, Smokey Manaloto and Willie Revillame were not among the stars who took part in Dolphy, Alay Tawa, the extravaganza tribute to the late Comedy King last week.

Practically all the big names from ABS-CBN, GMA 7 and TV5 who had at one time or another worked or been involved with Dolphy were in attendance.

Claudine and Smokey were in the cast of the hit TV series Home Along Da Riles. Willie, on the other hand, had paid for some of the hospital bills of Dolphy when he had to be confined. Willie owes a big debt of gratitude to Dolphy, who had supported him during the time he was out of work.

Dolphy, Alay Tawa was one of those rare times when the three major networks came together for one worthy project.

Sarah Geronimo as Darna? I heard that someone is pushing her for the role which ABS-CBN is said to be reviving, but Viva seems to be unresponsive so far.

Cristine Reyes was also said to have been considered for the superwoman role. And Angel Locsin’s name was also being mentioned. If I remember right, Angel was the last Darna.

Speaking of Sarah, the buzz is that another guy is really interested in her. He’s even served her family notice of his intention to come a-courting.

This time, everything is under wraps. Sarah doesn’t want another aborted romance. That’s understandable after what she went through (or did not go through) with Gerald Anderson.

I guess there’s no stopping Aga Muhlach from plunging into politics.

He has between October 1 and October 31 to file his certificate of candidacy for congressman in the fourth district of Camarines Sur.

Right now he’s busy with his TV show, Pinoy Explorer, and he just wrapped up Of All The Things, his film with Regine Velasquez, which opens in theaters on Wednesday.

I asked Aga why he chose to run in Camarines Sur. “My family is from the fourth district. My lola was born, raised and got married there. So her children – Tita Amalia Fuentes, Tito Alex Muhlach, and my dad – they always come back there. And me and my cousins go there to vacation.”

Aga says he’s been spending a lot of time in CamSur for the last couple of years. “I even celebrated by birthday there.”

Why doesn’t he run in Manila instead? “I’m a probinsiyano at heart. Even before, I want wide, open spaces. I want to be close to nature. And my district has mountains, seas, rivers, waterfalls. It’s so beautiful.”

Nowadays, he and Charlene practically live in Bicol. “Charlene goes to Manila only on weekends for The Buzz. Otherwise, we stay in Camsur.”

This early, Aga is finding out that in politics you can’t please everybody. A group is questioning if he is a certified Bicolano and has filed a suit to stop him from registering as a candidate in CamSur.

Aga says that as early as last year he brought a property in CamSur. He pays his taxes there and has bank accounts there.

“I have so many relatives in that district, the Amadors, Romeros, Abundabars, Borjas, Callejas. Nobody will believe I’m not from there.”

Another actor who’s caught the political fever is Richard Gomez, who is planning to run for mayor in Ormoc City. Maybe he got it from his wife, Lucy Torres, who is the congresswoman in Leyte’s fourth district.

Lucy is not surprised Richard is running. "This was bound to happen really. He's always had this calling to serve, so it's really just a matter of time," she told ABS-CBN News.

Lindsay Lohan has had a run-in with the law again.

The 26-year-old actress was arrested in New York last week on charges that she drove away after sideswiping a pedestrian with her Porsche.

The pedestrian was treated at a hospital for a knee injury and released.
