Ingrid Sala Santamaria celebrates 50 years of music
CEBU, Philippines - Marco Polo Plaza Cebu proudly presents Ingrid Sala Santamaria, Philippine Pianist “Celebrating 50 Years of Music” in a concert at the Grand Ballroom on 7 September 2012 at 8:00PM.
This great celebration will be marked by a showcase of Ms. Santamaria’s musical legacy to the Filipinos and her commitment to corporate social responsibility through the Salvador & Pilar Sala Foundation, Inc.
Ms. Ingrid Sala Santamaria will play two concertos: Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1 in e minor, Op. 11, and Mendelssohn Piano Concerto No. 1 in g minor, Op. 25. Collaborating with her on this performance is the PPP Chamber Quintet composed of Marc Mercado and Reynaldo Abellana, violins; Christian Abaiz, clarinet; Ariel Perez, bassoon; and Christopher Manus, bass. This will be a premiere performance of such particular combination of works in Cebu.
She is an awardee of “Cebu’s Most Notable Cebuanos” in 2000, the Chevalier Dans L’Ordre National Du Merite by decree of then French Republic President Jacques Chirac in 2004, and a conferment of a Doctorate of Music Education, honoris causa by De La Salle University in Manila, amongst many. She is the Founding Chair of the Salvador and Pilar Sala Foundation, Inc. which spearheaded a Ten-Year Music Development Program for talented and deserving youth of Cebu. In 1995, Ms. Santamaria launched the Cebu Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYSO) together with Professor Rodelio Flores as resident conductor. In 2000, the CYSO evolved to become the Peace Philharmonic Philippines.
