CEBU, Philippines - What started as a segment on the longest-running gag show on Philippine TV became a nationwide phenomenon with its massive fan base reaching from kids, teens, and adults alike.
Following its success and growing popularity, GMA Films and Regal Entertainment Inc. bring the wacky and addicting antics of multi-talented comedian Ogie Alcasid to the big screen with the spin-off of his character in Bubble Gang via Boy Pick-Up: The Movie!
Set to hit theaters on June 6, the film not only promises to give audiences bigger laughs but also grants the wish of avid fans and viewers of Boy Pick-Up to finally watch their idol delivers his signature pick-up lines to a bigger arena.
Ogie once again showcases his comic genius and versatility as he reprises the character of Boy Pick-Up in the silver screen. He expresses his excitement on playing the title role for the first time after being in the industry for over 25 years. Ogie is likewise very thrilled to work with sexy Kapuso actress Solenn Heussaff who will be his leading lady in the movie.
Ogie is all praises for Solenn’s talent and maturity as an actress and declares that she is a “revelation” in Boy Pick-Up: The Movie. He equally admires the acting chops of award-winning actor Dennis Trillo as Gabbs/Bagwis, Boy Pick-Up’s greatest rival in the pickup battle showdown.
Set to add more spice and to make the movie even more special are Sam Pinto, Gwen Zamora, Jackie Rice, Ellen Adarna, and Sarah Lahbati. Also joining them are Antonio Aquitania, Boy 2 Quizon, Diego, Moymoy Palaboy, Eri Neeman, Pepe Smith, and Lilia Cuntapay.
Moviegoers are in for a treat as Asian TV Best Comedy Actor recipient and Ogie’s longtime friend Michael V. makes a special participation as McBits.
In the film, there is an underground battle among Pikapistas and Boy Pick-Up remains to be the all-time, undefeated champion in wooing the gorgeous Neneng B (Sam). Despite his fame and legend, Boy Pick-Up lives a normal and solitary life. When his landlady asks Boy to love her in exchange for several months of rent due, Boy is forced to look for a new job.
Boy applies as a pastry chef in Heaven’s Bakeshop, a bakery owned by Angel (Solenn Heusaff), and falls head over heels in love with her.
Unknown to Boy, a dark force known as Bagwis (Dennis) is operating under his nose to destroy him and his love life in order to defeat him in the pikapista battles. How will Boy emerge from the darkness? Who will help him succeed? And how will he regain his foothold of the Pikapista championship crown? Now, only one question remains: Bakit?
