CEBU, Philippines - In an effort to showcase the talents of the Lapu-Lapu City youth and to provide an added attraction for tourists, the Tourism Office of Lapu-Lapu City in coordination with the Department of Education launched “Fun Nights in Lapu-Lapu” last May 19 at the Mactan Shrine.
The weekly event is a dinner-show to be held every Saturday either at the Mactan Shrine or under the second Mactan Bridge.
According to Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza, aside from popular tourist destination areas like the resorts and hotels that they proudly offer to local and foreign tourists, this project was a good avenue to display the abilities of the local youth through their varied presentations.
The launch saw a cornucopia of consecutive performances including song presentations, cultural and folk dances, hip-hop numbers and a violin choir. Highlights were the lively Rampada reenactments, with the evening capped off by a fireworks display.
Spectators had spacious tables and chairs to comfortably witness the event in, as food was also sold nearby by an organization who named themselves Kababayen-an sa Opon Nagkahiusa Alang sa Kalambuan.
