Going back to a primetime slot on a Sunday night is Marian Rivera as her newest sitcom Tweets for My Sweets premieres this Sunday, May 6 on GMA 7.
While she goes dramatic in the series My Beloved from Monday to Friday, Marian vent anew to her comedic flair with a new set of co-stars namely Nova Villa, Roderick Paulate, Sheena Halili, Barbie Forteza, Elmo Magalona and Chef Boy Logro.
This is a welcome breather for Marian who tries her hand anew in comedy in this new sitcom under the direction of Uro Dela Cruz, who also handles the top-rating gag show Bubble Gang.
When Marian learned that John Lapus was not part of Tweets for My Sweets, the Primetime Queen called up Sweet herself and informed him of the situation. John was promised, among with the other stars of Show Me Da Manny that in the next sitcom of Marian, they would still be in the cast.
“John understood the situation. He didn’t get mad and even expressed appreciation that I took the initiative to inform him that he’s not part of the cast. But I told him that the show is just starting and if ever there would be a need for a gay character in sitcom, I would surely recommend him,” said Marian.
The primetime queen also laughed off rumors that she is pregnant courtesy of Dingdong Dantes. Rumors of her pregnancy started when some fans congratulated Dingdong via Twitter and Facebook. Many believed that the messages were about the baby and they connected it with Marian being pregnant.
“I am not the one who is pregnant. It’s Dong’s sister Tina who is pregnant that is why many people are congratulating him. I was surprised when I learned of this rumor. Do I look pregnant?” said Marian who came to the presscon in the launch of her comedy series “Tweets for My Sweets” looking very sexy in her long white dress. Her outfit clearly showed her shapely figure and flat belly.
She said that she and Dong have no plans yet of having a baby and if ever she get pregnant, it would have to come after she and Dong get married. “I grew up under the care of my lola and of course she would want me to get married first before I have a baby. That is what is right.”
Settling down and having a baby are far from her plans now but if and when the time comes she has to make a choice in raising a family and having a career, Marian says she’d choose a quiet life away from showbiz, for the sake of her family.
“Marriage and having a family should come at the right time. When I feel I have achieved enough, then that’s the time to settle down. There should be no pressure so there won’t be any regrets,” said Marian.

Also feeling elated being cast in Tweets for My Sweets is Quezon City Councilor Roderick Paulate. This is also a welcome breather for Kuya Dick (as he is fondly called in showbiz) after his dramatic turn in Munting Heredera for which he even got nominated for an acting award.
“Magaan kasi ang trabaho sa sitcom,” said Kuya Dick. “May iba rin naman kasi akong trabaho. I am member of the city council. Kahit na wala ako sa opisina, I make sure na I am on top of the situation. Yung mga concerns sa trabaho ay inaasikaso ko pa rin with the help of my staff even if I am on the set doing an acting assignment.”
This is also the first time that he is working with Marian Rivera. While he has heard numerous stories about the actress being difficult to deal with, Kuya Dick never had an unpleasant incident with her.
He remembers one event held at the Araneta Coliseum where Marian even approached him to pay her respect. “She knows how to respect people, especially those who came ahead of her in this industry. We were not formally introduced then but I was touched by her gesture of coming up to pay her respects,” Kuya Dick recalled.
Kuya Dick is also happy to be working again with Nova Villa, whom he hasn’t worked with in a sitcom for quite sometime. If he is not mistaken, the last time he and Tita Nova worked together was in a sitcom produced by ABS-CBN.

The team up of Piolo Pascual and Angelica Panganiban is long overdue. And Star Cinema has answered the clamor to bring together the tandem of Piolo and Angelica in the big screen via the romantic comedy movie Every Breath You Take, the 19th anniversary offering of the film arm of ABS-CBN.
Directed by Mae Czarina Cruz, Every Breath You Take is the story of two people from opposite sides of the romantic pole. Angelica plays Majoy, a virginal romantic who has long been waiting for her true love to come. Piolo plays Leo, a career-driven playboy whose last priority is getting seriously involved.
Then, they met by chance on Valentine’s day and realize that they fill the void in each other’s lives. But unknown to them, as they get closer, danger lurks. People are determined to ruin their blossoming romance. Will they survive the negative forces and leave happily ever after?
Miss Mandaue’s Media Darling
Beauty, charm and brains are always a winning mix, and the Miss Mandaue 2012 candidate who best personified all these was chosen by the invited media-cum-jurors to be declared Darling of the Press.
Twenty-one-year old Nicole Tuazon won the press over during the pageant’s poolside presentation held April 26th at the Montebello Villa Hotel.
Tuazon is a Cum Laude graduate from the University of San Carlos, with a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering. She expressed pride in finishing college with flying colors, knowing how the course she took is a male-dominated field. “It just goes to show that what a man can do, women can also do, if not better,” said Tuazon, who along with her fellow finalists, was garbed in a two-piece playsuit in a hot fuchsia hue.
Candidates Daisy Rell Lopez and Joanne Bonnetty also made it to the media’s top three.
Miss Mandaue 2012 carries the theme of “Urban Guardian Angels”, with the twelve fine-looking ladies representing the following urban concerns or aspects of the city: Empowered Women, Education, Security and Employment, Environment, Morality and Decency, Child Care and Welfare, Peace and Order, Health and Nutrition, Justice and Equality, Shelter and Infrastructure Development, Heritage and Culture, and Youth Development.
The afternoon poolside affair hosted by former Miss Mandaue winner Anna Maris Igpit was just a teaser to an exciting coronation night this May 6th at the Convention Center of J-Centre Mall, where more awards will be given out and this year’s Mandaue City ambassadress proclaimed. Scheduled to serenade the hopefuls during the evening gown segment is Kapamilya actor Rayver Cruz.
