CEBU, Philippines - With her countless blessings this year, comedienne Pokwang is very grateful. Besides her bountiful showbiz career, she’s also happy with her family.
It can be recalled that in May, Pokwang showed the public her newly built mansion in Antipolo City. It was also in the same period when she was welcomed as the newest member of “Happy Yipee Yehey!” She is also a proud cast member of “TODA Max,” which is now the country’s no. 1 sitcom.
But behind Pokwang’s jolly personality and innate hilarity is a mother and former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who went through a lot of challenges like the tragic death of her son.
This side of Pokwang was seen when she portrayed the role of Medy in the movie “A Mother’s Story,” which was produced by “The Filipino Channel.” The story of this film revolves around a make-up artist who decided to illegally stay in the United States to work hard for her ill child. Also starring in this movie is Xyriel Manabat, Rayver Cruz, etc.
“The emotions I have exerted in this film are real, because I know how it feels to be away from your beloved family while working hard abroad,” Pokwang said.
Action Superstar Robin Padilla, Prince of Comedy Vhong Navarro and Angel Locsin, Pokwang’s co-stars in “TODA Max,” expressed their support for the comedienne’s new showbiz stint—as a dramatic actress.
Meanwhile, this New Year’s eve on “TODA Max,” despite being a strict doña, Lady G (Pokwang) still shows care for her family. She will prepare for her foreigner in-laws who will visit her house. That’s why she might not be able to make it to the party that will be mounted by Tol (Robin), Justin (Vhong) and Isabel (Angel). Isabel might not be able to make it also because of demands at work.
The invitees’ uncertainty to attend the party makes Tol sad, as this is for his fellow TADO (Tricycle Association of Drivers and Operators) members, done to dispel allegations that he wants Bruno’s (Jobert Austria) post as the organization’s president.
