The Kapuso Station is also proud to introduce another fresh and promising young talent, Milkcah Wynne Nacion. Despite not having any prior showbiz experience, five-year-old Milkcah stood out among over a hundred auditionees, and landed the role of Ningning, Iglot’s trusted friend.
All are very excited to work together, and breathe life to this original fantasy-drama directed by Gil Tejada Jr, the director behind several successful Kapuso programs, and whose most recent works include the top-rating afternoon dramas, Koreana and Nita Negrita.
The story of Iglot dates back to the period of Mulawins after Aviona dropped the last unggiko egg in a volcano. While the egg waits for this volcano to erupt, the life of its future caretaker in the mortal world also begins to take form.
Mariella (Claudine Barretto) is a kind woman with simple dreams in life. She wants nothing more than to marry her long-time boyfriend Anton (Marvin Agustin), and to start her own family. But her humble dreams are shattered when Mariella’s former boyfriend Juancho (Luis Alandy) returns to their hometown. Still in love with Mariella, Juancho uses his wealth and influence to break Mariella and Anton apart.
Knowing that Mariella’s best friend Ramona (Jolina Magdangal) has feelings for Anton, Juancho manipulates Ramona, and makes it appear as though she is having an affair with the latter. Mariella, who was then already pregnant with Anton’s child, finds them in an uncompromising situation. Believing she was betrayed by her best friend and the man she loves, Mariella cuts ties with both of them, and promises to raise her child all by herself.
However, tragedy strikes when the volcano suddenly erupts and injures both Mariella and her newly-born child. Juancho manages to save the former but asks his right-hand man Aldo (Patrick Garcia) to kill the baby. Bothered by his conscience, Aldo refuses to abide by Anton’s orders, and instead leaves the baby at the doorstep of the house of Lola Idang (Celia Rodriguez), a grumpy old woman who lives in the middle of the forest.
Despite her seemingly wicked character, Lola Idang could not find it in her heart to leave the baby outside. She decides to keep and take care of her, and calls her Luningning. But Lola Idang purposely keeps her distance from Luningning, causing the child to feel unwanted and alone most of the time.
Until one day, Luningning digs up the magical unggiko egg. Since she has no other playmate, Luningning regards this egg as her lone friend and names it Iglot. Soon after, the egg cracks open and, much to Luningning’s surprise, out comes a fluffy, little being unlike any other creature she has seen before.
Together, Luningning and Iglot set out on different adventures, some sad, some happy, but always life changing. As Iglot touches lives, and heals others from their emotional and physical sufferings, it will also pave the way for Luningning and Mariella’s reunion, among other reconciliations and surprises bound to unfold in the story.
Be inspired by this original story of how love heals the most painful of heartaches. Whether it be between lovers, friends, families, or even two beings from two different worlds.
Iglot spreads love, magic, and inspiration starting today after 24 Oras on GMA Telebabad.
