She’s only 10 years old, but Filipino-Canadian Maria Aragon is already on the fast lane to fame.
Maria had no idea that her singing her idol Lady Gaga’s Born This Way on YouTube would be her ticket to the international musical stage. Lady Gaga was so impressed with her performance that she invited the girl to join her in a duet at one of her concerts. After that came invitations to guest in Ellen DeGeneres and a sing-along with the Canadian prime minister.
Just recently, Maria performed for Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton when the royal pair visited Canada.
Now she’s in town to cut an album as Star Record’s newest recording artist. You can catch Maria today when she guests in ASAP Rocks.
She says her dream is to perform with Piolo Pascual, Sarah Geronimo and Martin Nievera. She finds Martin “to be a really, really cool guy."

Just four months after being stabbed several times after trying to fight off carjackers, Pilar Pilapil is back to doing movies again.
The veteran actress is shooting Leona Calderon, an independent movie, some scenes of which are being filmed in London. She is cast as an out-of-luck OFW struggling to help her family in the Philippines.
ABS-CBN reported that Pilar is not getting any talent fee for the film. She accepted it as a favor for her friend, indie film director Joey Morel, a student at the University of Greenwich, who is shooting the movie as a school project.
Pilar, however, refused to talk extensively about her tragedy, where she was left for dead by her attackers on a lonely roadside in Antipolo City.

False alarm, Kuya Germs says of reports that Nora Aunor was finally arriving in Manila last week.
The media and supporters of Ate Guy had waited at NAIA for their idol to emerge, but she was a no-show.
Kuya Germs denied that he had confirmed Ms. Aunor’s date of arrival.
Interviewed from California, the veteran actress clarified the mix-up. She said someone volunteered to book her on a flight back to the Philippines on July 21. But she requested that her homecoming be put off because Kuya Germs and Suzette Ranillo were still negotiating with a network for a show for her.
Ms. Aunor has not set foot in the Philippines for the past eight years.

Talking about birthdays, Sarah Geronimo is turning 23 tomorrow.
There will no birthday bash for the Pop Princess, just a simple celebration with her family. She already took a birthday “vacation” in advance – a month in the US with her mom and sister, plus a side trip to Europe.
Sarah says she has a bundle of birthday wishes but she’d rather not dwell on them. She just wants to express her thanks to God for all the good things that have come her way.
And guess what: A love life was not in Sarah's wish list.
“I’ve said it before: I want to focus on my career, my relationship with my parents, family and God. If love comes my way, fine. If it doesn’t, it’s fine, too.”
Sarah will once again team up with Gerald Anderson in a follow-up to their highly successful movie, Catch Me I’m In Love.
Incidentally, Sarah’s album One Heart has just turned platinum. Last Sunday in Asap Rocks, Viva Records presented her with two plaques, one for the album’s platinum achievement and the other for when it turned gold, while Sarah was abroad.
