Vic Sotto hosts R U Kidding Me? Owws? Hindi nga?

An award-winning director’s new film had a special private screening for a group. Direk wanted to have feedback regarding his newest film project which, like his other pet film projects, he is very proud of. The private screening went on smoothly and Direk got good feedback about his film and the subject matter it tackled. The group also liked the performances of the stars, that include two actors who Direk had worked with in his past films which also gained critical acclaim.

Of course, Direk is curious with the viewers' feedback and the comments on the acting of his stars. Direk liked the comments about the film. When he asked how the viewers commented on the performance of his two actors, they said they liked them both although there was a stray comment that one actor did better than the other one.

Direk was kind of piqued with the comment and went on to defend the acting of the one of who was dissed. Direk took pains to explain that the actor didn’t give out a shallow characterization or was bereft of credibility in the role.

Said the person Direk was talking to: "Why get mad with the comment, direk? Di ba you wanted to hear the comments of the viewers?"

But Direk would not be appeased and still came to the defense of his aggrieved actor. The person Direk was talking to decided to keep silent. He knows it would be useless to argue with Direk. Baka lalo lang itong magalit.

We seldom get invited to join game shows. That’s why when we received an invitation from TV5 to join the taping of R U Kidding Me? Owws? Hindi nga? last Friday at the TV5 Broadway Centrum Studio, we came to the studio armed both with excitement and nervousness.

At first we thought it was an invitation for a presscon for the new game being hosted by the Bossing of game shows, Vic Sotto. But when we got to the studio, Ms. Judy of TV5 confirmed to us that the 20 entertainment writers they invited were also contestants for the taping.

After the early dinner, we were ushered into the studio where we were later joined by the 80 other contestants for the briefing and a run through of how the game is played.

But after rehearsing for several minutes, we were sent home instead because their high-tech machine malfunctioned and the taping could not go on. The TV5 people were very apologetic for what happened but they could not go on with the taping if their high-tech machine is not working. But they said they are going to invite us again to their next taping day as they really want us to experience how it is like to be in show.

The show originated from Netherlands and the local version has Wally Bayola and Jose Manalo to provide, not only the laughs, but information as well. For every round, the game would test the intelligence of the 100 contestants to pick who among Wally and Jose is the one giving the right answer to the particular question.

It’s a test of intelligence amidst laughter since the objective of Wally and Jose is to tweak the facts so that the audience would go to their side. But for every wrong answer, the contestants get booted out until the time lapses and the only one remaining wins the prize of P100,000.

The ones who get to answer correctly have the chance to win the prize. But it is easier said than done if you have Wally and Jose who have different answers to the question so the contestant has to think very well since he only has five seconds to press the button of his answer.

Bossing Vic might also have an answer to the question that is different from what Wally or Jose had said. So watch out for Bossing Vic’s surprise.

We had the chance to watch the show’s premiere telecast last Saturday and mind you, the questions are tricky but if you think well enough, you’d certainly get the right answer
